Re: Jim Clark : The Quiet Champion

Watch it on iplayer last night whilst laid up with Tonsillitis. What a great programme it was and a real insight into the man, and the racer. Total tragedy in the end, but what an inspiration in such a short life.

Re: Scottish Parliamentary Elections Sweepstake

I think there is some mileage in simplifying the tax rules for people, for companies, it will always be more difficult though i do personally struggle with how one man companies, or a band of contractors, appear to get a better deal than those who PAYE. If we really wanted to make work pay then we w...

Re: Evora High St Glasgow

OK, may have been Al from Dunblane, he has a red S with the SR finish. Wow, two red Evora's in Glasgow city centre at the same time - bloody common as muck!

Re: Craig Moncrieff thank you.

At the recent track day at Knockhill one of the pipes on my AP brake caliper split. Craig was quoted 3 - 4 months delivery from AP Racing so he set about calling around his contacts. He found the pipe (a pretty non descript but essential part) through a set of contacts in France. He arranged for the...

Re: Evora High St Glasgow

That might have been me - reg # C8RKH. Red NA with lower SR black bits (not the roof or mirror caps). Had stayed Thursday night in the Hilton on William Street and not knowing Glasgow very well was trying to get out - they seem to have moved the one ways round a bit.... How did it sound?

Re: SIDC 26th March

Just wanted to say a big thank you to @johnStewart at FlatOut Photography. I ordered some photographs of the day from him and I'm over the moon. Great service, great photographs and a real momento of my first ever track day. Thanks a lot for organising the day and for the photo's John. Brilliant.

Re: Scottish Income tax

I get the feeling that there are some people on here willing to have a sensible debate and put forward reasonable points of view for a sensible challenge, and some people who just want to make a political point and not very well. Guess just like being down the pub with out the advantage of having a ...

Re: Scottish Income tax

Very true Robin, but I have a big belly that can store huge amounts of beer and 12 months ago I discovered Lotus cars and now I love them... As I said. I have no problem paying the taxes I am due to pay, but I do "grudge" paying ever more of what I earn. At what point does it stop? Sometimes I feel ...

Re: Scottish Income tax

Hard work isn't just physical, nor is it just intellectual. Some people on low pay work bloody hard, some people on low pay don't. Some people on high pay work hard, some don't. But where is the incentive to try to better ones self if in the end it just means you are giving 45%, 50% or more away to ...

Re: SIDC 26th March

Had an ace day Saturday. c8rkh. I was behind you when you decided not to brake for Duffus. Thought you were extremely brave at the time.....warmed the brakes and tyres nicely though, and is that not what the warm up is for.... M I don't know about warming the brakes and tyres but it did warm my bac...

Re: SIDC 26th March

What car did you have c8rkh, that was my fist go too but you must have been quicker than me 'cause I didn't catch up with anyone, the good thing about that was, I had lots of corners with nobody around. I was in a red Evora - a 2010 NA, not the S. I got out the way plenty of times for people, just ...

Re: SIDC 26th March

My first track day ever, and first time round Knockhill. Nearly binned it at the end of the home straight as forgot to break for the right hander after the Bridge! Doh - classic newbie knob error but managed to make it round just - and that was lap 2 of the warm-up for christ's sake! Still learning ...

Re: The issue with no more paper licenses......

I hire a car in the UK every week at Heathrow. Paper copy of licence (I never got a photo one) and my passport. Never have a problem. Have printed the code of the first 2 times, Hire comapny said they don't need it / use it. All good. Need to make sure you use caps for the licence code where necessa...

Re: Scottish Income tax

Your analogy is totally flooked @BiggestNizzy. The guys at the top would pay for all the beer and then THEY would watch the poor at the bottom drinking it. Then the poor would hand them the glasses, tell them to get ta feck y'oos knobs and go and clean them bloody glasses ready for the next round. T...
