Re: Classic Car Engine Diagnostics
Thanks Campbell. I'm not really getting very far with it to be honest. I've started to create a website on Wix and I've created a Facebook page but it hasn't had much response. I have so much to learn from the web/social media side of things that it's a bit daunting. I'm hoping to be able to offer a...

Re: Classic Car Engine Diagnostics
Thanks for the encouragement. My dad served his time in the 50's when servicing a car was far more involved than on today's cars so I've learned the old school way over the many years I worked with him. If I can provide a good service to classic owners then hopefully I can build the business from he...

Re: Classic Car Engine Diagnostics
I can also do a full series of tests on the starting and charging systems with this other Sun tester so if you want a full check over 70's style just give me a shout (I won't be wearing flares however ! ) https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1897/44371709272_b4036ef614_z.jpg Vat40 by Robin Derrick ...

Classic Car Engine Diagnostics
With my involvement with classic cars over many years and working at my old dad's garage from a young age, we used to hook every car up to our Sun tuner as part of the normal service. With the advent of electronic ignition/fuel injection etc. the need for this service died off during the early 80's....

WANTED : Engine Crane to borrow for 1 day
Does anyone have an engine lifting crane I could borrow for a day ?. Really just need it for half an hour or so, if you can bring it and wait I'll pay for fuel.
Forgot to mention I'm in Aberdeenshire, Oldmeldrum/Newmachar area.

WANTED : 5/16-18 UNC Eyebolt x4
I'm looking for four 5/16-18 UNC eyebolts, collar type preferably. It's just for a one time lift so I can borrow them if it's easier. I would buy them online if I could find them at a reasonable price but haven't found anything as yet.

BMW Zenith Carb Issues (NLC)
Anyone familiar with the twin Zenith carb's as used on 70's BMW/Mercedes ?. My 2500 is running very poorly since the winter layup. Previously it started on the automatic chokes perfectly and soon settled to a smooth idle. Now it's running poorly, not on all cylinders. It starts on the choke then the...

Re: S1 at auction....
Shame it's ended up at a general auction, bound to be snapped up by a dealer and marked up ridiculously.

Re: NLC Electrical Question
Thanks. I'm happy enough with the power requirement for the transformer, although most common ones are 110v not 120 but can provide sufficient amps. My main concern is the oscilloscope. When Robin refers to the timing, is he referring to the timing strobe ?. I know that has nothing to do with the AC...

NLC Electrical Question
Hoping there are some electrical experts here. An electrical item is rated at 120V/60Hz, USA manufactured. It includes a CRT oscilloscope and analogue gauges, all 1970's technology. Using a step down transformer I can provide a 110V/50Hz input. Will this have a detrimental effect on the operation of...

Re: Mountain bike rebuild advice
I took my 1999 Stumpjumper to the Algarve a few years ago, it's still there performing as holiday transport at my brother's flat.

Re: One for the entrepreneurs: Lifestyle Business or Scaleable Company?
Yes I always value his advice however I feel that he doesn't seem to grasp that I'm not intending to set the world on fire, I want to be contented and make a small profit that's all. My ideas all involve classic cars in one way or another. I know he doesn't have any specific business knowledge in t...
