I have formed the impression over the years that, where feasible, direct relationship with the Lotus factory yields almost amazing results. I have some personal experience of this when tracking down a couple of rare parts. They have their own service dept, who clearly know their stuff (!) and I don'...

yep but you might get your eye poked out, it's colder here ;-)

actually thinking about it, it's probably not colder at all in fact, but it was FUN visualising it anyway

just got a price of £102 fitted per tyer and thats the LTS ones. Sounds not bad. Craig Craig, If Jim Dickson can supply the Yoko LTS version (double-check - we think that LTS badge is meant to restrict supply to Lotus dealers only), then that should be a good plan. Toyo T1-S are probably still avai...

Looks like you have your answer! FWIW, that is what I would have done...but that is because home life matters more to me now than ever before. 4-5 years ago things were different and I DID work lots of overtime for no pay, albeit it wasn't quite the norm amongst some colleagues, so it helped me get ...

Re: DILEMA

Been offered a new job Background - work as a CA for one of the "Big 4" Accountancy firms - do ridiculous hours at times - basic is 37.5hrs - been known to do 70+ - no overtime payments or time off in leiu. Offer from Mid tier firm - probably number 5 or 6 in the terms of size. - the...

Forgot to post the conclusion to this. Jim Dickson readily supplied a single Toyo Proxes T1-S (monster 225/40/ZR18 sizee) for £106 fitted. Next day delivery from the factory, who apparently have loads of T1-S still to clear. And yet another family-friendly motoring service agent, according to Lisa a...

I think the dates you quoted are accurate in context, ie the heady days of when we worked together (probably about 97/98 through to around 2000). I reckon our outing to Aberfeldy was some time after Karen and Iain's wedding, when I got a shottie of your MR2 (nice). Lisa got her Scoob in Oct 99, whic...

[beware...this got longer and longer as I reviewed it, sorree!] Around the time I left Uni, I was keen on the S2 Elan. They'd just launched the SE2 or whatever (essentially a runout model) but it was £25k or summat and way beyond my lowly means as a graduate programmer on £12k pa!! As it turns out, ...

Not so sure that finding the receipt is such a bad thing. It establishes the original market value of the car, if needs be a rough depreciation calculation can be applied, arriving at a fair value as at time of loss. That is what your insurance "commits" to pay out, as I understand it. At least it w...

I like this bit: "the theory that is favoured is a driving error due to excessive speed on a wet surface" So even an Enzo is not invincible against mother nature. Gotta be careful whether you have 3 cylinders, 4, 12 or whatever. There is also mention of "zig-zagging"...impressing the Russian FHM mod...

Actually, on closer inspection, that S1 is NOT a Sport 135. It may have a 135 head etc - so be it, although how will you tell - but it has the wrong seats, no decals, and a black roof. S1 Sport 135s had Corbeau trimmed red and black cloth seats, blue hoods, S135 decals behind the doors, amongst a fe...
