But putting a pad on the back of the pads shouldn't make any difference to knocking as the piston presses against the back when you brake. If the pad is able to move, something's not right. The pads are there to stop squealing as the piston pushes the pad. You can get a little tube of Copper Ease f...

Also, you prob wont want to do this on your road car, dont lift the throttle when changing up. Just make sure your quick and positive with your shift and the car will prob only hit the limiter for a split sec, but saves a bit of time too. Don't do this in the elise - it will kill the clutch sooner ...

I can get you a patten one next day. I think it is about half the cost of the new Bosch one.
How much is that then?

Wanted - Lamba sensor ...

Anyone got a surplus Lambda suitable for S1 they wish to sell me? I ordered loads of exhaust bits but failed to order the Lambda sensor (which refuses to come out of the old manifold despite using all suitable weapons on it) and really want to rescue my car from Hoymotorsport before it gets washed a...

That phone call may yet materialise, Robin ;) Give me a bell when it arrives if it doesn't just work - I might be able to swing over and take a wee look at it - sometimes talking it through leads you to the obvious conclusion ... It might also be worth asking Karl what outward indication there is f...

Don't panic - the caps fail regularly and it probably is just a cap ...

Don't know much about the PRRT - you can convert your car to running the modern pipe work by buying the relevant hoses and alloy pipe from Lotus. The problem is there isn't enough space between the heatshield and the bulkhead for the coolant pipe and the studs that are present in the later cars for ...

Most likely a new cap is all that is required. Next step is HGF, so let's hope it's the cap :-)

Apparently you have to get the right size tv for your room and the distance you'll be away from it. looked at a 42" but my couch is about 8 ft from the wall the tv goes on. It was too big, the picture didn't get really good till you were a good bit away from it. Even on mine the picture looks bette...

Crank is gated by the actual immobiliser, the crank relay (and hence the crank/ignition switch) and the alarm module. Fuel pump is gated by the actual immobiliser, the fuel pump relay (and hence the 'MEMS' which enables the fuel pump relay). So if your fuel pump runs when immob disarmed and not othe...

If you're going to CRP it you need a MIL eliminator also to stop the engine check light illuminating. Personally I really wouldn't bother with CRP as it's loud and gives everyone following you a headache from the fumes (just imagine what a row of dodgy old Cortinas and Chevettes did for emissions - ...

Later VVCs do have a cam position sensor according to both the Lotus and Rover manuals ... The ECU (if it is configured for sequential injection) will require to know the cam phase before it can start fuelling. The ECU will never commence ignition before it has worked out fuelling. Looks like a good...

According to my manual the VVC does have a cam angle sensor next to the no.2 cylinder intake - right underneath where that breather hose clips onto the cam cover - the cam should have a toothed ring on it (though I think this may actually be just two phases). Meanwhile the engine manual confirms tha...

Does the warranty cover bouncing off the limiter while hooning around a track? Did you try the IT fix of taking out the battery? It does provided you don't over-rev on downshift. The toyota has a rev limiter that reduces engine speed if you hold it on the limiter - so you can bang it up to fu...
