Re: Aberdeen area garages

Used to be the defacto response to this would have been Ricky Gauld but he has at least semi retired now. Tut used to get some work done by Duthie motors in Longside but have no idea if they are any good. Most people just bite the bullet and travel down to Craig's in Edinburgh. https://www.craigmonc...

Re: Using 2 fobs ?

I have 2 fobs for my 111r and both work regardless of how often you use one rather then the other. Once the fob has been initialised it is effectively remembered by security system and should work. I say should because at the end of the day it's a Lotus and can stop working at any moment for no expl...

Re: Could caterham take over the Elise/Exige chassis

BEV's are a legislated sticking plaster, it's difficult to see that they will be the technology of choice in a decade. I don't disagree with anything you have said however I doubt anybody knows with any certainty what the technology of choice will be in a decade, it my not even have been invented y...

Nothing unusual there, pretty much all of them end up like that eventually.

Re: Could caterham take over the Elise/Exige chassis

Would be an expensive set up as not as simple to make an elise chassis as it is a 7's. Are Lotus selling all the tooling or just the design?

Re: Can SE help you through the Credit Crunch?

I'll add to this thread though never thought that it would be anything I could contribute too. Some will know but after 30 years in oil & gas I was released last year at the start of the pandemic, combination of rig out of work bidding for work that dried up due to travel restrictions. I had half h...

Re: Lotus teaser/launch update link

Basic 911 without extras is £84k. Remember going in to Murrays and seeing a Lotus (430gt?) with a £121k price tag on it. Kinda splitting hairs, nobody ever bought a 911 without any options on it. But even at £84k for a base model is extremely ambitious. Where are these base prices coming from? The ...

Re: 111R rebuild continued .......

Well it turns out that the headlights I sent for re-coating have disappeared in the post. Will have to see if they turn up in the next week but as of now looking at 2 x new complete headlight units as parts aren't available separately.

Re: Lotus teaser/launch update link

according to Evo prices start at 911 money, bye bye Elise market and traditional ownership enthusiast base . Time for Mazda to do a 250 bhp MX5. Isn't the cheapest 911 now £100k? Bit strong for a base Lotus or top end for that matter. Basic 911 without extras is £84k. Remember going in to Murrays a...

Re: 111R rebuild continued .......

The elises problem is headlight height primarily. They paper bright enough just not enough throw. The only one that had anything like decent headlights was my Evora but even that pales next to the golf. Best I've had were our RRS with LED headlights or the R8 which were phenomenal.
