I also found that the bike gearboxes(assuming that's what the use) aren't man enough for the extra weight.
That said my experience was with an R1 bike engined car.

It's all personal preference but I had my heart set on one, tried it and found it too soft. It was more like driving a fast BMW than an elise / exige, good and competent but not like a go kart.

That said I don't know anyone else who feels the same!

I spoke to the owner as I was trying to get a swap deal for my boxster. It sounded like a good car with good history. Hes a long term owner. That said, I never went to see it so cant say for sure.
