Tornador Gun for cleaning

Post by allyrennie » Fri Jan 23, 2009 8:44 pm

Had read about this new gun a while ago - Thought it was a bit of a gimic as no tool could possibly do what they claimed......

Ok, now I have to admit how wrong I was!! Awesome bit of kit for anyone who has a need for such a thing. The dirt and grime this thing can move is just something else. We tried cleaning some plastics with it last week, Bumpers on Karts, results were superb!

If anyone is ever interested then Its in the van all the time so just "Geez a shout" - By the way demo does not read free valet!!!

Hi Jim,

Ok, my best attempt at a description of how it works then!!!

The air pressure from the compressor comes up and through a valve - this can either be set to flow right through to the gun ( Just an air gun effect ) or it opens up the bottle chamber. If this is set, then the air creates a suction, pulling the chemical up through a filter and into the flexi pipe. This pipe rotates within the cone assembly, agitating the chemical at the same time.
The combination of the agitated chemical and the air pressure is what gives the cleaning power.
There is a small hole in the cone ( narrow end ) which creates a form of vacuum, making dirt and debris come back up the cone and held there.
To clean this, all you do is place the open end into a bucket of water and trigger, the closed loop then cleans the cone out and your ready to go again.

As you can imagine, its great for things like air vents, now rather than just dusting them and making them look clean, I can actually force clean them right through by opening the vents and placing a cloth over the mating vent, catching the trapped dirt from the vent chambers.

Ok, that maybe didn't make much sense but I tried!!

Cheers

Hi guys,

Just a note about the Tornador.....if you're thinking about getting one it's important to note that you will need a 10bar minimum compressor, it will work with an 8bar compressor but not nearly aswell, the Tornador needs 8bar to 8.5bar to run most effectively.

I tried mine at different pressures and found 8bar pressure minimum is needed.

Now you may be saying well what does an 8bar compressor give you if not 8bar, well all compressors work like this....when they start up the pressure builds up to it's set point, in the case of an 8bar compressor that's 8bar, the compressor then cuts out and does not cut in again until the pressure drops to 6bar, therefore you only have 8bar for a few seconds at any given time.

I would also suggest a 100litre tank minimum ideally more.

My compressor cuts out at 10.5bar and the pressure is reduced to 8.5bar via a regulator so I have 8bar minimum at all times.
