Paint removal?

Post by fudnie » Sun Jul 04, 2010 9:31 am

I don't know how it happened but I have a big splat of emulsion paint on the front of the Elise.
Does anyone have an idea of how to get it off with out making too much mess of the paint work?

Any ideas welcome, cheers

If it's emulsion it should just wash off as most are water based therefore not water resistant. Might take a bit of elbow grease but should come off. You could try leaving a wet cloth over the top of it to soften it first.

maybe pre-soak it with a solution of warm water and car shampoo first. (I'd use a spray bottle with a 20% shampoo, 80% water mix).

give it a good rinse after that or use a pressure washer a low pressure to work off any loose paint.

following that, give it a wash as you normally would (wash mitt, usual shampoo mix) but don't scrub hard or you'll add scratches.

if that doesn't work, I'd try something like Tardis http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog ... -cat6.html which is a pretty useful product to have anyway.

let me know if any of that doesn't work.
