Radiator Vents S2 Exige

Post by davec03 » Wed Apr 13, 2011 8:03 am

My radiator vents on my S2 Exige has some rust on them. It looks to me like they have a plastic coating rather than being painted. Can anyone enlighten me a little. Something that needs a bit of attention in the future.

The are powder coated, painting them with hammerite will be your best bet, they are bonded on at the back IIRC so wont come off.

Is this the same for the side intake grills and engine cover? Few bits on mine coudl do with being touched up but not quite sure where to start....

Hammerite and an artists brush while they are on feasible?

Cheers,

When I had my exige I took of the side vents masked them up and gave them 2 or 3 coats of spray hammertite. I also did the front grill. Lots of masking required but is was so worth it it. It really enhance the car. The paint stood up well too although the car never really got to see any salty roads after that.

Removed the side scoops tonight and after a quick rub with a wire brush and a bit off masking and 3 coats of Hammerite....Job done, look brand new! They radiator vents pose a bigger challange though!!
