Prep for gtechniq products ?

Maybe a tall ask on this forum but worth a go....

Having severe problems with brake dust and know in reality I'll need to change pads to something less severe (they came with the brake upgrade I bought secondhand and they are racing pads)
White wheels and iron loaded brake dust isn't a good combination. I've got some detailing wheel cleaning products that only partially work, now reverted to severe acid based products to try clean them up before this last resort at protection.

But anyone used gtechniq C5 for wheels (or the other versions used on bodywork etc as it is all the same stuff just repackaged) what preparation did you do and any real life tips ?
Basically do you really have to have and use the specific product preparation as I already have a degreaser, IPA and panel wipes ?

I know it is all on the prep etc etc but after spending £15 on a bottle of this, I'd prefer not to spend another £50 on gtechniq cleaners / degreasers/ preparation fluids etc etc as recommended by manufacturer.

I used their "panel wipe" first, but it smells like there is a fair amount of parafin in it - common to manh other degreasers. I think you'll probably be ok with what you have...?

I use Autosmart red 7 for iron fallout removal, PH neutral and safe on bodywork. Spray on, When it reacts turns red, can agitate for tougher muck, and spray off. Can be had for circa £30 for 5l by contacting your local mobile Autosmart dealer. Usually go about in big lorry arrange to meet and buy. Also use their tardis for tar remover! Might be good for easier/safer future cleaning and prep for a sealer.

Thanks, I bought Autosmart Red recently and I've had a small bottle of Tardis for ages it is best thing ever for many uses as well as tar remover.

I've now resorted after using every liquid I have to green scoured pads to remove final dust on painted wheels which breaks every rule but with a bit of polishing then cleaning they will do for now apply C5 to see if this stuff protects wheels.

To give you an idea of how much iron dust is being chucked out, this was after our Clachtoll camping weekend and the 800 miles or whatever. I had done the same a few weeks beforehand to the car.
Not best for a 25year old metal car which already has rust spots so brake pads will definitely get replaced this year.
