My car is clean......no really.

Post by kenny » Sat Apr 05, 2008 6:35 pm

I dont think I have ever posted in this section before.......

Anyway my car had not been washed (properly) in two years, it was completely coated in tar, oil, molten rubber and other grime that it was bordering McApe levels of uncleanliness. Have had a few goes at cleaning it myself and gave up. Decided to pay someone to do it properly so asked Graham from Custom Detailers to give it a make over. It was not to be the full bhoona, £6000 wax stuff, just a bloody good clean inside and out. I am mightily impressed with the results and all for a very reasonable price.

The downside, however, is that the stone chips are now far more visible and there is a hell of a lot, not N1 TUT levels yet but its heading in that direction. Worst are the side sills which are completely shotblasted and will need resprayed.

Will post some pics once its stopped snowing.

Just realised after seeing those pics Kenny that your car never actually had a shine on it.

It has come up really well, and as for the stone chips etc, just warrior wounds that show it is being used as it should be.

Don't be tempted to do anything about them at this stage, it will just affect the way that you use your car, especially on road runs.

Washed mine for the first time in ages too - looked better dirty - now see the stone chips and the cone contact scuff marks :)

Also, how did you avoid cracked driving lights - both mine are cracked - so I've just taped them up as I never use them.

You can get wee covers for these. Eliseparts do them for a start, IIRC.
