Scottish Elises

was browsing detailing world and read about dr color chip. it claims it can rid stone chip rash and scratches and blemishes etc.

sounds too good to be true.

has anyone here tried it or know any one that has. if it does what it says on the tin could save a few pounds compared to a clam resray

..seems to have had some pretty decent write-ups. Never used or seen the results in the flesh....

found a few more good write ups so i've just ordered the big kit. coming from the US so it might take a while but i'll post before and after results with pix.

it arrived 2day came quite quickly.

need some decent weather now, don't have a garage

I think I might invest in one of these kits myself, looks like a great product. The guy who had the Elise before me ( Del) was too tight to buy some Defendall so it has a fair bit of gravel rash along the front of the car.

Where did you get your paint code from Mainsy ?

i found the paint code under the front bonnet on the near side. white label with chassis no, other codes etc and the paint code. mine was b03, so im assuming they are all small codes.

got a wee bit done today so pix to follow

was dry today so opened up the box

first step, i washed the car using 2 buckets, clayed then pat dried the car with deep pile micro fibre. i also used megs bug and tar remover to make sure there was no wax or dirt left on.

first off i tried using the brush which came with the set but i found it too fiddly, so just smeared on with my finger and found i could accurately apply the paint where i wanted it.

this is the daunting bit, paint drying on the car looking like its been done with a rag on a stick.

didn't get much done today, so will post more pix 2moro hopefully. applying the paint takes no time, leave to dry (2-3 mins) then wipe off excess paint with a lint free cloth and the supplied remover. this takes ages as too much pressure can take the paint out the chips.
but i'm well impressed with the results, worth the effort.

just like to add, photo's were taken with a 6.0 megapixel camera so not the best quality and haven't been photoshopped.

as long as you know the paint code they can make it for you. i think they can even match pearlescant

just to add, the finish isn't 100% perfect. only a respray can do that. but you need to really look.
i had 1 stone chip that stood out on the wing, after and my pal could not find it at all. i even had trouble pointing out where it was.
on very close inspection you can just see where the chip was. but after 3 days it can be machine polished or if by hand use auto glym super resin polish then waxed which i think will pretty much rid it all together.

for deep chips you can re apply as much as needed.

Does it fill the "holes" to an extent or just colour them? the front of mine is like the surface of the moon and I'm reluctant to have a respray because it'll just happen again on the next run....

a couple of bits i have done it has just coloured the chip. but i have been smearing the paint over big areas. im gonna go over the deeper chips again and fill it out with paint, leave it to dry for longer so that it doesn't drag out and that should do the trick.

Looks great, must have been pretty nerve wracking waiting for it to dry
