Foam Lance - Decent Price?

Post by Fluoxetine » Sat Oct 04, 2008 5:10 pm

Okay, okay...My first ever post in here...I was of the von Iddon school of car cleaning when I had my Elise(s) (i.e. once a year, when the car got serviced), but I'd like to keep my wee Panda in decent nick, as it's all new / shiny, and a red car looks pants when it's dirty...

Spotted this as a group buy on the Fiat forum:

http://www.fiatforum.com/group-buys/162 ... p-buy.html

I haven't washed the car with a bucket / sponge yet - Have instead used the services of the car washing people at Kincardine, who use the above 'brushless' system...Comes up pretty well, usually... :)

Looking at:

Option 1 Foam lance £40 delivered
Option 2 Foam lance + 5 litres of Snow Foam £47.00
Option 3 Foam lance + 2 x 5 litres of Snow Foam £53.00

What's the view as regards the price, and effectiveness of this item?

TIA

Ross.

it didn't say on the fiat forum but from the photo's i think it is the hd foam lance which goes for about fifty notes.

im gonna invest in a proper foam lance soon too. i have the karcher foam bottle just now which is only £15 but doesn't achieve as good a foam as the hd lance does.

maybe worth the deal with the extra foam :thumbsup

I have used a foam lance for a year or so. Cue gratuitous picture of foamy cars..

The lances are good fun, make lots of suds, and are much better than the standard karcher bottle. When I ran out of Snow foam I got just as good stuff from using cheap(ish) halfords carwash liquid. Some of the lances come with a 0.5 liter bottle and others with a 1 litre bottle. 1 litre is preferable as the smaller bottle sometimes just isnt enough.

The Autobrite one ( http://www.autobritedirect.co.uk/shop/p ... ts_id=2060 )seems to be the one to get according to lots of folk on Detailing World.

Had another scan through the Fiat Forum thread...The group buy is through Autobrite, and is the HD lance with the 1litre bottle... :thumbsup

RRP for the lance is around £55 with 5 litres of Snow Foam - So saving £8 plus delivery with option 2, or £20 plus delivery with option 3...

Hmmm...

I was wondering why you'd want one of these....

Now I want a pressure washer AND a foam lance
