Anyone any ideas what's best to use to clean my 2bular exhaust? It's got lots of black sh*t round the oval exit pipe and i want to make it nice and shiney again! Looks like it will come off but not sure what to use as i don't want to damage it.

For decades I have used Autosol which comes in a tube, but you can use anything that is in the wifes cleaning cuboard, Brasso, silver polish etc. They are all only slightly abrasive so will not damage the surface.

Same sort of stuff, I've used Autoglym with pretty good results.

Thanks chaps. We don't appear to have any brasso or metal polish.

I will need to have words with 'her indoors'! Guess i better get up to Halfrauds and get some of that Autoglym Metal Polish. Bet i end up spending a fortune on other car care products i never new about!!!

Booked in? I think you may be able to do it yourself?
Jim used to be a nightmare when it came to getting the exhaust to you....I believe that has changed?

I always thought he built one-off exhausts...im wrong then?
The 2bular can be bought seperate and fitted DIY style

They are custom but he knows the dimensions by now.....there shouldn't be any problems.
Yeah, most people fit them themselves rather than pay a garage £40 or so to do it.

I think Jim is churning out alot of these now. I waited a few weeks for mine, but i did tell him there was no hurry. I attempted to fit mine but couldn't get the bottom of the car off and rounded some of the hex screws, so took it to a garage in Aberdeen i've used for years. They ended up fitting it, but said they had a job actually getting the old one off.
I can assure you it was more than £40. I think it was nearer £85ish with the VAT on.

Ah, was just about to say the Autoglym Metal Polish ain't working on it's own. So it would be safe enough to use the fine wire wool and i won't scratch the exhaust?

yeah go at it with the wire wool, then final polish it using a decent microfibre. you'll be surprised at how well it will come up

Got some fine wire wool in B&Q and managed to get it cleaned up nicely this morning. You all forgot to mention 'elbow grease'

Took a bit of work, but got there in the end.
