repairs in or near glasgow.

Post by yrrab » Thu Sep 24, 2009 10:47 pm

hi does anyone have any recomendations for repairs to a vx or elise as my cars had a small incident from a van and needs fixed pronto. going through europa consultants and they asked where i preferred the repair to be done but i had no idea. they recommended someone called steve barker/baker? in bathgate. never heard of them nor would i but has anyone used him or is there a prefered place in scotland. the damage only seems like scrapes so should be easily fixed i guess.

Its Steve Walker in Bathgate . I don't think he is as good as his reputation on here would appear . When my car was repaired requiring a new clam the panels did not line up,( which I have seen on another car ) the clam needed to be raised off the windscreen, the alarm was not connected , fastners on the clam were wrong or rounded. Items were not fitted correctly and the radiator was not bled properly . I was in no rush but it took a while. I corrected everything and lined it up myself. The actual paint job was good and a correct match .

I know other people have had issues though others appear happy. Maybe it just the nature of the game .

thanks for the reply. was this a while ago? maybe his first few elises? i expect good and bad reviews. but if anyone knew of a genuinely good place anywhere in uk i could maybe phone and get the car booked in there. as they said anywhere in the uk.preferably somewhere that would have alook at the alignment etc afterwards if they knew what to do.

Knowing what I know now I would put the car into Sinclairs in London if someone Else was paying.

Wait until the morning see what the other guys say .

Edit: That was December 2007

I've used Goudies in Kilmaurs (just outside Kilmarnock) a few times for small stuff with no problems.

Have a look at this thread, although not really near Glasgow I'm afraid if that's important.

Try Hunter and Reid in Strathaven 01357 528899 I have used them a couple of times in the past for minor stuff and can't fault their work
