Would You?

Post by Coopers » Sun Oct 18, 2009 10:51 pm

Take your car to a foam and rinse 'valet' cleaners?

Still haven't sorted out a solution to my no driveway situation.

Anyway it needs a clean before Friday night when the girlfriend flys up.

So on my way back into town at night i see a £6 car wash and wheels operation.

Two quick questions:

Will the elise leak with the hardtop on?
Will it scratch the car in anyway?

They don't use mitts they just spray foam on (don't know how concentrated it is) and pressure wash off?

Btw my car isnt dirty dirty just isn't shiny after 500 miles in 2 weeks worth of driving.

Not in a million years... 9 times out of the ten the pressure washer will be too much for the Lotus paint to take. Plenty of people have experienced this first hand unfortunately. Might leak might not (need more info on Elise i.e. year model) and if any brush/cloth/sponge touches it then yes it will scratch it.

In saying that a low pressure soap/soak will do it no harm, but in turn probably wont do much to remove the dirt completely.

If you want to pay for it to be properly done call Ally at 360complete (member here) until then DIY.

better off not washing your car than washing it badly :( speak to Ally or myself .

HAve you even seen what these guys do with their brushes/equip. The chemicals are normally of such a concentration that it will strip off drirt n grime off alright along with any wax etc you have.

you have been warned.

oh and watch how high the pressure is on their washers - usually high enough to strip the Loti paint! Garry will tell you his experience if he is reading.....
