tar spots
tar spots
What's the best product for removing tar spots ? Road outside my house recently had its top coat laid. Hadn't washed the family wagon for a while and after a jet wash today I see there are loads of tar spots. Some of the various half full bottles of polish I have kicking about say they do this, but it's taking a LOT of elbow grease. Will any specific tar spot remover be better or are some better than others ?
cheers.

Re: tar spots
Tardis it is then. cheers folks.
I assume as it's a solvent, a good application of polish afterwards is required.

Re: tar spots
Tardis is just the business for tar. Thanks for the referrals guys.
You will need to reapply wax/sealant afterwards as it strips existing protection.
email me if I can help with anything else: enquiries@polishedbliss.co.uk

Re: tar spots
The RS is covered in tar too.
PB site says to spray on, leave for 60 seconds and wipe. As easy as that or do you need to rub stubborn spots?

Re: tar spots
Hi Gareth,
No need to scrub at tar - you'll only end up marring the paint.
You can leave Tardis a little longer than 60 seconds but be careful not to let it dry. For really stubborn spots, give it further applications: far safer than rubbing.
The wipe should be very gentle: just enough to break the bond between the tar and the paint surface.
Always rinse thoroughly afterwards.
(Tardis is safe on wheels and glass too)

Re: tar spots
Tar will actually look like its melting when you spray Tardis on it. It just runs off, then wipe the residue.
Re: tar spots
Got some Tardis a couple of weeks ago and finally got round to using it today. Seems like a mild form of white spirit and found some gentle rubbing was required to remove the spots, but very little effort. Definitely worth it. Poor quality phone pic beforehand of the sort of thing it was up against - basically both sides and lower rear of the car was like this. Reckon I only used about 200ml today to do the full car and what a difference!
No after pic, but basically like new. Thanks for the tip of recommending this product.
