Post by tuscan_thunder » Wed Mar 02, 2011 2:36 pm

As a small spring special offer (and to free up some shelf space in the unit!) we have some price reductions on a selection of products.

All items are marked with their percentage reduction and can be found here:

http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog ... ducts.html

here: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog ... ducts.html

and also on the home page: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/ There are some other items on the site which are reduced: seek and you shall find!

Made from actual turtles. Who are famously shiny (although I admit the whole "being wet" thing tends to make turtles shinier.)

I remember asking on here a while ago about waxes. Currently using meguiars wax and have done for past few years, now in the mood to be looking at some other manufacturers anything you would recommend that would be better than my current selection? Dodo juice and p21 etc came into the conversation last time I asked :thumbsup

This might just be the best time to ask.

I had the elise painted last year and haven't washed it since, I have to admit it's a bit manky, especially the interior. What would you recommend for the inside.and.out.

For the dark red you have, a good quality sealant would be my immediate thought: it'll set of the metallic flake in the paint, leave a really slick surface with great water beading and have strong durability.

For mid tone reds, I recommend Blackfire All Finish Paint Protection: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog ... ction.html - if you're only using it on the Elise, that bottle should last you at least 2 years, probably nearer 3. One application should last upto 4 months.

(currently showing as out of stock, but should be with us at the start of the week)

Our 'default' shampoo is Meguiar's Shampoo Plus: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog ... -plus.html and our wash guide is here: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog ... rying.html You might find our wash kit useful: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog ... -cat1.html

A good value wheel cleaner is 3M Wheel and Tyre Cleaner: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog ... eaner.html

For the interior, Blackfire Interior Cleaner is ideal as it's safe on just about any surface, including leather: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog ... eaner.html

If anyone would like any other product recommendations, just let me know.

Looking for wax for my van

Its more so to protect it as it does not get washed very often, so it will probably need to last 10,000 miles or so

Must be cheap

:cheers

Not exactly the last word in aesthetics but massively durable and offering extreme protection: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog ... x-845.html

Cheap as chips, oily to apply so a very small amount goes a long way and that bottle will last you several years.

I have been maybe getting in a bit deep looking at the polishes etc the next thing I have came across is machine polishing and I have became very interested in techniques used and some of the results. I was talking with a guy in work who has one and he offered it to me for sale as he only used it once or twice so really sits about doing nothing. It's a porter cable and he has the transformer box etc.

I've been reading up a lot of them and generally the dual action polishers do not seem too hard to use and I think with a bit of practice on some old panels or friends sheds I could get the hang of it so I think I will go for it as it looks quite interesting to me and sadly enough the kind of thing I would like doing sitting in the garage with the ipod on in peace! I can't do sitting about in front of a tv.

Was just wondering if you have any advice for just starting out with machine polishing. Also where and what pads should I be looking at. The other thing that confuses me is should I be using the same polish and wax combo as you would by hand?

Most things I have read generally say wash, clay, abrasive polish, finishing polish then wax or sealant.

My cars mainly have those spider web looking light swirls you really only seen under the sun light so i assume this is just light swirls caused by washing and nothing major to remove.

What kind of products should I be looking to use along with this machine polisher and what steps should I be doing.

Any advice would be much appreciated to get me started :thumbsup

The paint on Elises is generally quite hard so I recommend our hard paint kit - with a Dual Action machine, you won't remove that much paint and it'll be easier to refine the finish down. Our kit has all the pads, polishes and accesories you need and there are full instructions on the product page.

http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog ... -cat1.html

If you want to use the Porter Cable, I recommend buying, individually, the parts in the kit with the exception of the machine itself.

I'd go with our wash kit: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog ... -cat1.html then the Meguiar's Quik Clay kit: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog ... y-kit.html

then follow it with Blackfire All Finish Paint Protection: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog ... ction.html it'll give a really outstanding finish on metallic red, highlighting the metallic flake and giving a depth and gloss to the finish (wax will tend to hide the metallic flake). The sealant is durable with 3-4 months from a single application, extended if you layer it, and the bottle should give you at least 20 applications.

Our machine polishing guide is here: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog ... ng-do.html
