BikeR no more.

Post by pete » Thu Mar 10, 2011 12:39 am

I've not crashed it (yet). BUt I have now spent two days cleaning the f*cking thing. &51 kgs he said, my arse. There must be about 50kgs of tar coated gravel in the undertrays alone. And another couple of kilos of tar welded to it. And while we are at it, every time I go near it I notice another crack I've not seen before...

If you never clean it there are no swirls.

Cleaned (with claybar).

And the inside. Which was awful.

For the polishers the undertray was cleaned with a mixture of "Fenwicks Bike Cleaner" . And Petrol (initially 2 stroke by mistake then 4 stroke). And a pressure washer. And wire wool. And Autosol. No, I had no plans for today.

Nice job Pete. I'm now well out the running as a polisher, looking at that lot!

HAHAHA me a polisher!! Although to be honest I've had a great day just cleaning my new car. (Had it a couple of weeks now and hardly been near it).

The paint is 90 % superb. Unfortunately the other 10% is so bad that the whole car really needs a respray. Although it's not like Neil didn't show it to me before I bought it...

You going to KH on the 19th? Still wondering whether to take Millie, haven't sorted childcare yet but I suspect it a bad idea...

Still very much on for KH on 19th, Lisa was up for it too but we'll now have her sis and our nephew with us so she might get distracted and do Something More Interesting Instead.

I still intend to show up, with one or both of our pair, so don't be put off. Even if it's snowing, in which case I'll bring sledges 8)

I cleaned some of the grime off my undertray before refitting to EGOR last weekend.

I used a circular wire brush inserted into an electric drill and lots of pressure. Done in minutes :-)

I once cleaned my car that way too, although I was slightly less aggressive and just used a pan scourer :-)

Cheers,
Robin

I think I had to use one of those on your wheels once. Pointless, clearly. Utterly pointless 8)

Jamie last cleaned my car for me but the sills and lower doors plus good old Honda fumes at the rear meant that the carbon black was a bugger to get off, but brillo pads did the trick, and does not affect the flat yellow paint, well not on N3 that you would notice.

Three coats of Johnsons furniture polish buffed up with an old TT sweatshirt finished it off nicely.
