Detailing Legends - any chance of an Edinburgh demo

While never really being much of a polisher, I'd quite like to learn about it, theory etc, and ways to make my car look epic!
Any chance of some of the gurus on here doing a "how to...." session? (pref in Edinburgh?)
Theres just SO much stuff out there product and equipment wise
Might be something for SLS to host if a premises is needed? (Question for Mark and Ali)
I'm sure there would be a fair bit of interest

I would be interested too. What I really need is a "guide to a quick detail" as I will never have the time to put into it that others do; and don't really need the car finished to the mega high standard. A grasp of the basics, and the theory behind the products and techniques would be very helpful!
Detailing for dumbies - bring it on

Count me in for it gents, if Ali and Mark can facilitate that that would work well for me.
I can bring along a few bits of kit, tornador gun for interiors and engines, rotary buffer and a selection of pads and compounds.....
I have bring along a couple of tester bonnets for people to have a shot with - see how much damage you can do!!
Could cover a few tricks of standard valets to give the car that little edge ( Its amazing what you can do with an artists paintbrush and cotton buds ).
All we need is someone now to provide food and some refreshments and were good!!!
Cheers
Ally

Hi Ally, that's no problem mate, you can certainly use our premises for your demo day so long as it's at the weekend, that might actually work out well for folk to also pop round and have a look at our new set up too, kind of like a combined open day.. I have a black Golf you can work your magic on
Cheers
Mark & Ali

Guys - it sounds like you have a plan

You just need to let us know when to turn up
I would be interested in a detailing demo and/ or SLS opening day too

Also interested - Clark gave me some great advice on how to revive the paint work on my bike - but it still needs the expert touch. One thing to be able to know what to buy but it's a whole different ballgame being able to use it properly.

I'd be up for this too
I never know what products I should be buying to get the shiny look and hide any swirls.

I am currently looking to purchase a dual action polisher and would love the opportunity of having someone showing me the technique. My plan was to either find someone who would let me practice on a shed or buy some panels from a scrappy and practice.
I'm interested in the process and results which can be achieved. Although might bore people I think I would quite like being stuck in the garage with the iPod on detailing away.
The only thing that scares me is cutting through the clear coat but through research, the dual action polishers seems to the the safer option in comparison to the rotary.
Hopefully I will pick it up quickly and try it out in the Elise and see what I come up with.
This seems a great opportunity to see the process in the flesh and I would thoroughly encourage it, I'm bored of watching YouTube videos.
