Update.

I'm finding the gel tends to spray off down the bodywork of the car once you are rolling

Given that tyres are designed for the harshest of conditions I doubt a little Mr Sheen will cause a disaster. Sounds more like marketing to me.

its a silicone / non silicone argument rather than MrSheen specifically. Takes your choices etc. :)

I used to give them a very quick wipe with thinners. Gives a really great matt finish and evaporates almost immediately.
Re the silicone I'd check the tyre manufacturers sites to see if they warn against any chemical use. As I say I think the tyre bling industry is mostly marketing.

I realise I'm late to this but I've ended up with liking "Armor All Extreme Tyre Shine Gel". It goes on well, looks good and lasts a decent time.

I decided to go and get some expert advice on the 'Does silicone damage tyres?'. Fortunately I didn't have to try too hard as my better half is a process engineer at a company that makes rubber for car tyres. The response was that silicone forms part of the compound used in the manufacturer of the tyre so its very unlikely to have any damaging effect. So Stephen is correct, all marketing.

I'm pretty sure spewing on them won't help either the condition of the tyre nor cause any degradation. 😉 Can't talk for pee on the front near side neither. 😂

Ok next up, is car shampoo any better or worse than washing up liquid, or is it marketing again?

I reckon fairy up would be a bit less gentle on paintwork, but then I've never been a polisher so what do I know?

The Cerb is my first car I've used the two bucket method on ffs :damnfunny

Dog pee leaves a nice sheen, can't get the bugger to spray it on in a uniform fashion though.
