This worked well for me, brush on smooth finish.

Brilliant, thanks Ali
Re: Rusty Grills
Cut up a sponge up and dip in the paint it is much simpler than a brush.

Re: Rusty Grills
Ah, nice tip! Will give it a go at the weekend
Re: Rusty Grills
I have also used hammerite, works well . Though used a brush, will try a sponge next time . (are we making a home makeover show )
Re: Rusty Grills
Another thumbs up for hammerite. I wire brushed the grills first, then used a "smooth finish" hammerite spray can. Quick and easy and gave good results. Did several thin layers of spray on paint.

Is Rusty Bear's long lost cousin?
I did the full buna on the Elise, nitromors then rust treatment then paint. Rears remained good but the front still needed redone after 18 months. So next time I'd just wire brush and paint.

The thing I found most lasting was PlastiDip. Just gave them a good clean and sprayed on. Plus you can play with it on other things like the diffuser and worse case scenario you just peel it off

Re: Rusty Grills
Update: slapped it on at the weekend, looks decent, certainly an improvement.
It will at least prevent the embarrassment of my rusty grills until I can be arsed doing it properly (spoiler: i'll never be arsed, I'll just give it to Craig )
