I'm about to sort out insurance for my car but I'm not sure if I need to declare that the suspension has be replaced with Bilstein which I belive is the same as fitted on the S2.
Guessing I should but thought I'd ask here first
What to declare

You could declare it, but ensure that they don't load the premium. This is because Bilsteins are now a Lotus recommended fit for S1s, hence treat as manufacturer's specification. They are not a performance upgrade...although some could argue that if you use the slightly lowering mounts or minor spring change supplied by Steve Butts for the lowest version of the kit, you are modifying.
If you do have a bump, and the Assessor gets antsy, tell him we'll send him an example of an original Koni and he can decide for himself what he'd rather you had been driving around on

Tbh... I could imagine an assesor knowing the difference?
When i crashed my mini and my bmw - the mini had loads (and i mean loads) of mods on it and he didnt even mention 1 in his report... And the bmw he had to ask me about what certain parts were and if this was standard or not..!
I think you'd cause more hassle telling them - but i guess each to their own..
