I've decided to take the brave pills and go uninsured
If it does badly wrong and I have to get the bus home at least I'll have £225 in my pocket to drown my sorrows
I will be the same... and probably over caustious anyway! It will keep me from getting too confident on track with that lingering in the back of my mind... which as I read on another thread "when you start to think you are getting the hang of it, it's time to come in" :)

Treat as a fast road with no police or cameras, and nothing coming the other way

Having been pax in a track shunt made me muse over insurance quite a bit before my first day.

In the end I didn't bother, having done the sums and weighed up the risks, and it was fine. Once out there, too busy to worry.

As long as you start slow and use your mirrors/common sense it should be ok.
