2 car 1 driver policy's

Post by BiggestNizzy » Wed Aug 15, 2007 3:26 pm

anyone know any good ones ?

It's that time of year and I thought as the elise is going through some cosmetic changes I might as well start work on the clio & get it back on the road.

Elephant want £732 for the both but they dont offer multicar policy's just 2 policy's

Try Admirals multicar policy.
I am £330 for the Elise with full NCB
They also mirrored the NCB for my C Max and were £50 cheaper than Esure.

I've been investigating this and for me the best option is to do two separate policies.

It would appear that those who are good for modded sports cars (Flux) are rubbish at mobility cars (Fiat Panda)

Not too surprisingly, I did look into this a couple of years ago in some depth. Admiral Multi-Car policy was probably the best of the multi- type insurers for non-trade type folk. But, a fairly long chat with A-plan led to me deciding that seperate policys with seperate (or mirrored) NCD was actually a fair bit cheaper. It also means that if, eg, the renewal on a particular car goes up unexpectedly then it is easy to move the cover to a different insurer without affecting the premium on any car remaining with the original insurer.

my mum is with direct line and she has insured my car as a second car on her policy with me as named driver on a provisional licence and my insurance is just under £340 which was not bad i think because when we called up diamond they wanted over £600, they basically got told to shove that where the sun dont shine.

Can I ask about Direct Line policies?

Are they really 2 car 1 policy policies? I've just called them and they swear blind they don't do them. Possible they have stopped, but I really don't want to have to have two policies with DL or anybody else if I can get one to cover two cars.

Thanks in advance (my first post!)

Thanks for the tip off - Admiral not too bad - in fact very good for my Audi at £290 but a bit steep for a 111R - £560. If I were insuring an Elise using my NCB off the Audi it should be sub £400

if you look online at the Direct Line site then there is a section that deals with multi car policies - one condition (if you want your NCB mirrored) is that you can be the only driver for both cars. As soon as you name another driver - even for one of them - then they won't mirror the NCB.

When you call them, they deny all knowledge of multi car. It appears that this is available on-line only.

so saying - direct line came back with a quote of £550 for my S2 - Admiral put me on cover at just under £300 quid on the basis that I insured my Focus with them as well.

Thanks. What a bunch.

Found this on their website:

Use your No Claims Discount on your second car

If you are the only person insured on your Direct Line car insurance policy and you purchase a second car that will only be driven by you, we will match your No Claim Discount on the policy for your new vehicle.

In addition we will give you a 10% discount on the additional vehicle followed by 5% every year there after.
