Restricted mileage policies

From PH. Thought thread might be of interest as aware a lot of folk have Loti as 2nd or 3rd cars with restricted mileage policies. Might be worth a check you are still within the agreed limit so you don't end up like this guy..

Not really a huge surprise TBH - if they can get out of a claim they will. Personally i wouldnt risk it.

Interesting Thread. I have just changed mine to a 2000 mile policy, as I will not do more than that on the road this year. However I will be doing a lot of track miles, which are obviously not covered by the policy anyway. So I wonder what the senario would be if I did 3000 miles in a year (2000 road and 1000 track) . Would I then be over the limit if anything happened.

Dont know how they check the mileage anyway, as the have not asked me to declare the mileage at the start of the period. OK the car gets MOT'd, but thats due halfway through the policy period.

The way I read it is that you're basically saying that the car won't do more than X miles in the insurance period - independant of whether it's technically insured for each one of those miles or not. I'm sure the trackday thing will have come up with them and they'll be covered. They are in the business of covering their arse, after all...
