My current postcode is "refer", which is fair enough but I didn't think it was that bad (although I have a surprisingly good quote if that is true). However, my parents postcode is E, which is a lot of nonsense as they stay in a really nice area with very low crime/etc. :?
In term of dundee the DD1-3 category includes the west end which has alot of big houses and flash cars. Unfortunately this is where most car crime takes place. When i lived in the west end my insurance went up from 750 (DD8 postcode) to 1200.

No self respecting burgular is going to rob poor people, they have nothing to steal. dodgy area's will probaly have higher assalt rates and vandalism, nice area's will have more burgulary

The whole of fife is grouped into one catagory (KY1-16). Surely it must be broken down further than that?

On the subject of garaging, when I moved to a house with a garage I checked to see the effect it would have on my insurance. It actually put the premium UP by about £30!

I guess the garage just gives me piece of mind then. There was a guy round the corner who kept his Sierra Cosworth in the garage every night and the night he left it out it got stolen. :(

I don't think it has anything to do with how "bad" your area is...

Considering EH2, New Town Edinburgh, where my aunty and uncle stay and flats go for 7 figures is an E.

I would take a guess that, if it is correct, it must factor in a LOT of things (traffic, surrounding areas, how busy it gets, crime, etc etc).

There are cars in Fife?!

My postcode is middle of the scale, though that's probably due to there being nothing worth stealing!

Hold on, aren't you from Dundee!?

Actually, I'm glad of the high car crime rate in Dundee. When I was first going out with my wife she was doing a placement at ninewells and living in Dundee.
The very first night I left my Golf outside her flat it got the wing mirror kicked off. We noticed it when we got back from a club and she felt so guilty I got a sympathy shag. Result!

Car crime FTW :thumbsup
