Insurance renewal (for the Aygo so NLC).

Post by tonyg » Thu Sep 29, 2022 4:04 pm

So I was just renewing my car insurance for the Aygo runaround. Went via Quidco to get £35 cashback. Got some decent quotes, but went with Sainsburys as it was the cheapest that had decent reviews (the cheapest was OneCall who have so many bad reviews online it's hilarious). Anyway,to the point, the voluntary excess was £250 which seems common on quotes these days - I thought i'd have a go and see what changing it would do.Tried £350, no discount, so started working down. I ended up at £0 voluntary excess and a policy cost that was CHEAPER than the cost at £250 excess! (Ok it was only £0.75, but that's £250 in my pocket if I have an accident. Isn't car insurance strange?

It certainly is.

I keep thinking back to when I had a little "moment" in my Ultima. My premium with Adrian Flux was around £275 for the year. They shelled out just under £30k to mend the broken bits and at renewal time the premium dropped to £250. Strange indeed

No, I sold it recently and it went away down south to Kent.

We're moving house and there was no real prospect of it getting up the driveway without having to fit a lift-kit and the truth was that I was hardly using it. Had it nearly 8 years tho so a good effort.
