 New red Konis would probably cost more than the entire S2 setup!

If asked they are a standard fit on later Lotus model 111, not an upgrade but a retro fit. Remember the model is the same (As Lotus couldn't get type approval IIRC) it was just a revision of the existing design.

As long as you get it on your policy. I told them it was a like for like replacement and zero performance etc and that it was a facotry job and they were having none of it, hold as he spoke to their assesor then he comes back etc.

In the event of a claim, would a loss adjuster/assessor know the difference or even notice? Same with a stainless steel exhaust?

Probably the only way to find out is to look at real life situations. However, I am sure that anybody who has claimed successfully wouldn't want to post on a public forum that they were paid out on a "modified" car.

I added my Hurricane to my (admiral) insurance policy, but have toyed with the idea of not adding the new exhaust as I don't think they would know the difference. However, I just called them tonight to be on the safe side and it's only £25 to add it, so I'll get it put on the policy when it's fitted.

Think worst case, worse worse case. Assesors are mechs, what if you were not able to "attend the garage and prep the car for the assesor visit etc.".
