One Off Trackday Insurance
One Off Trackday Insurance
How much am i looking to pay for one off trackday insurance and who's best? My policy at the moment doesn't cover trackdays, but this is due for renewal in May. I will have been on track a couple of times by then so will know whether to get a policy that covers trackdays or not.

Re: One Off Trackday Insurance
With CCI you can expect to pay £10 for every £1k value of the car ie. 20 grand car £200 for the day. The excess tends to be very high, in the region of a couple of grand so only covers you for write offs and you should hopefully not be driving that badly.
If you speak to them you can part insure it up to whatever you want, ie. £50 for 5k of cover with a reasonable excess. I believe Mac has done this in the past.

Re: One Off Trackday Insurance
£200 for one days insurance is a good reason for taking out a policy with someone like Richard Egger who include for free four Trackdays cover per year. That is also up to the full value of the car.
When they will insure me with a S/C Honda and 11 points for £340, then a normal person over 25 should be in for a good quote.

Re: One Off Trackday Insurance
Are there companies that cover you for more than 4 per year? Any cover euro track days??

(that's why I think Mike will do fine, that and his lack of imagination).![]()

Heritage will cover club unlimited organised trackdays. LOT & SIDC qualify.scib4 wrote:Are there companies that cover you for more than 4 per year? Any cover euro track days??
My policy has Euro track cover too, everywhere except the Ring.
They are an extra £62.50 per day for a circuit organised trackday.

With Egger you can specify one of them as European.

Thanks for the link Wheelie. Have filled out the form for a quote. Interested to see what they come back with.wheelie wrote:Heritage will cover club organised trackdays. LOT & SIDC qualify.scib4 wrote:Are there companies that cover you for more than 4 per year? Any cover euro track days??

Thanks Kenny. That seems quite scary. Guess if i do get into this trackday thing won't be doing as many as i expected unless i go for the no insurance option!kenny wrote:With CCI you can expect to pay £10 for every £1k value of the car ie. 20 grand car £200 for the day. Just thinking that you may be as cheap chopping in your existing cover and moving to one that gives you TD cover anyway, rather than paying c£200 for a single day. May depend whether it is worth it to you to gain an additional years NCD.

Going on track without insurance is something many people do. I've been out without insurance a couple of times. Luckily when I had my "off" I was insured.
The new policy I've got through Henderson Taylor includes 4 or 5 trackdays. If you go over that its something like £50 a day and I think European trackdays are covered.

I now have a dilema! This is what i might be looking at doing now. My mate just got a quote back for his 350Z at £370 & £3000 excess for ONE day.neil wrote:Stewart wrote:Peter

A lot of the brokers offering you the policies with trackday cover wont give you any more than 4 years NCB anyway.

Do a lot of people not bother with insurance? I think i'm to sensible not to!

Peter, I'm pretty sure that you can't accrue 2 loads of NCB on a multicar policy, so you won't have NCB to use on both cars after one year.Peter76 wrote:I now have a dilema! My Exige is on dual policy with my Golf GTi through Admiral, and i think the Golf only started in July - if i cancel the Exige i will need to pay extra on the Golf. I need to speak to them. As all my no claims is on the Golf GTi, I insured the Exige with zero years no-claims bonus. This is up in May so i think i might hold off until then so (hopefully) i have at least a years no claims bonus on it. In fact as i type this, it's only a couple of months so seems like the better option. I can then get a policy that includes trackdays.

The good news is that I don't think it really makes a huge deal of difference when you are using a specialist insurer such as CCI or Heritage. They seem to be more interested in your driving/claim history, car, age, postcode etc and not too fussy about what NCB you can transfer over. You should get a discount if you're a Seloc member too

Re: One Off Trackday Insurance
It's really up to you to weigh up the risks and can you afford to fix it if you crash it.Peter76 wrote:Do a lot of people not bother with insurance? I think i'm to sensible not to!
I have never had insurance so over the 50 or 60 trackdays it's saved my the cost of a sizable repair.
It's rare to see serious damage as a result of driver error, provided you are not really, really crap you should be ok but you don't really know how good you are until you get on track, for your first time it might be a good idea then see how you feel for the next one(s). If you take it very slowly, build up your pace and listen to the instructor you will be up to speed at KH reasonbly quickly. A Walshy day would help, he will tell you what mistakes you might be making, you may not be aware you are even making them, and how to spot dangers and avoid spins/offs.
The other risks are mechanical failure and someone driving into you, does not happen often but if you get out of the way of faster traffic and give yourself plenty of room around slower cars the risk should be almost zero.
