Trackday insurance

As i've never done a track day before I have no idea what a good quote for insurance is so I was just wondering if a quote for £182 is good for me and the Mrs?

It's for the trackscotland day at Knockhill on the 14th that i'm thinking of doing.

Cheers, Saj

Probably about as good as you'll get for a one-off.

Much better going with an insurer that includes a certain amount of days in your overall cover (likes of CCI do this) but that price is in line with what I've seen for a one-off quote before.

Yes, I've been quoted 220 for my Elise for a single day. As Shug says, contact CCI when you re-inure as they give cover for 3 or 4 days a year (you might be able to add more too) with a similar excess to that of the single day cover, and in my experience tend to cost more or less the same as a regular road policy does anyway.

CCI package include 6 days per annum - as long as you notify them in advance of attending each day. :thumbsup

I used to be £82 per trackday for the S2 elise, that was with REIS IIRC. I then did as others suggested and signed up with CCI when renewal time came around.

I'll check CCI out when it is time for me to renew in July as I intend to do a car limits day around about then also and i'm betting it should work out much cheaper than doing it for individual days.

Carlimits isn't a trackday and doesn't need specific insurance - it's a driving course on a closed airfield. Guaranteed you'll want to do more trackdays after you've done your first though. Never met anyone that tried one and didn't like it.

Plus if you hit anything on a Carlimits day, you'd need a medal (or a jetcar  )

If you're thinking about taking out insurance for a single day you'd probably work out cheaper to cancel your policy now and start a new one with track cover included - Henderson Taylor have worked out cheapest for me the last couple of years. Typically the single day cover works out at 1% of insured value with a 10% excess.

:withstupid or make sure when it's up for renewal you get a policy that includes track day cover. Richard Egger (REIS) only did 4 days per year on the policy when I was with them, so CCI sounds like it could be a better bet.

You should also get a discount from the likes of CCI if you've done a performance driving course and also for being on SE :thumbsup

As a guide used to be roughly £5 per thousand about 4 years ago. Probably closer to £7 or maybe £8 per thou these days.
