CCI declining cover as i'm not over 40!?
CCI declining cover as i'm not over 40!?
Just called CCI when I realised that my policy expired a couple of days ago and I haven't received a renewal letter from them.
I've just been told that they are declining to cover me as due to my car (S1) they are only offering cover to those 40+
Anyone else come across this?! :O

Been hearing a lot of it, as their underwriter has had enough of Elise claims, it seems. Only advice is to check out the CCI thread two down from this one as it's got some good alternative options to try.

Seen it reported on seloc. I couldn't use them as I needed commuting for the times I reside in my city pad, so had to go for REIS last year. They were fairy competetivve, with a small increase.

Time to get an exige I believe, for some crazy reason, they will cover you if you have an exige.

Hmm, at only 31 I'm a little disappointed that the insurer I've been with for the last 4 years now won't cover me. Would have thought that having owned the car for 6 years, and having no claims on it would have counted for something, but obviously it's all about the statistics :/
Will give REIS plus the other usual suspects a call tomorrow.

Shop round. Tesco Compare may help.
I took £500 out of an £1100 multi-car renewal last month for a couple of hours' work. Now THAT'S what I call a dayrate!!

Fyi... Mentioned to admiral about getting a sabre head for mine when looking into multi car... and they said if I did... They wouldn't insure me.
Re: CCI declining cover as i'm not over 40!?
I wouldn't insure you either no matter how your car was set up
Admiral lost our business thanks to £1100 renewal demand I'm afraid.

REIS good to deal with in my experience and a lot cheaper than CCI for me.Corranga wrote:Hmm, at only 31 I'm a little disappointed that the insurer I've been with for the last 4 years now won't cover me. Unfortunately for CCI I don't think they have any choice in this and I'm sure they would love to keep your business if their underwriter would let them - the underwriter doesn't consider individuals, just stats, as you say. It is an interesting point, though, that an underwriter that could consider individual history with that specific vehicle could perhaps squeeze the risk a little and thus offer a competitive rate and make a bit of profit along the way. As you say, once you've owned a ditch-finder for 6 years and can demonstrate that your usage hasn't changed much over those years, you are much less likely than the next guy to have an accident.
Cheers,
Robin

I might give it a go, but reckon that as soon as I start declaring mods, it'll go through the roof.campbell wrote:Shop round. Tesco Compare may help.
Ok, the car is only mildly tuned, but insurance is like this black hole to me, so I was absolutely transparent on what I've changed on the car, everything from stage 1 tuning to to the change of colour and re-trim!

Indeed, my brother Kenny has just insured his S2 Exige through CCI and he's only 26. Bizzarre.Stewart wrote:Time to get an exige I believe, for some crazy reason, they will cover you if you have an exige.

Understood, Chris. REIS may be worth a look. Been great for me for trackdays but never used for public highway cover.

Chris same happened with me with CCI. I spoke to Mary at REIS and got a competitive offer which I may follow through with so I would try speak with her and see what she can do.

Re: CCI declining cover as i'm not over 40!?
Thanks, called around this morning and decided to go with REIS.
All mods declared, however small, and I kept commuting and track day cover (despite not taking it on track for a couple of years, I am missing it..)
It would have been virtually identical to last years costs if I didn't take the track cover, and from what I gather, if CCI had kept offering cover, they were adding a huge premium for commuting so all in all probably not that bad a result.
FYI, £374 - 31, S1 with some mods inc stage 1, bilstiens etc , garaged, 5k miles (I might increase this if I decide to keep running into the winter and not just for 6 months), 9 years NCB, 4 track days
