Insurance admin fees

Post by kerryxeg » Fri Jul 10, 2015 3:31 pm

Insurance companies seem to have a new trick, of charging over the odds for admin changes to policies. Just changed a few items, cancelled a car that has now been sold £19 from Aviva, changed a number plate (free with Aviva if done online, but not if through the phone system). I got it for nothing as online wouldn't allow the change as a renewal had been issued with the old number. The £35 to change the reg of the motorhome with insurance choice. Seemed over the top for 5 key strokes.......

So if they have a good online system then such admin costs can be avoided but, brokers don't have such systems and they seem to be cashing in.

I'll be taking this into account when the motorhome is due for renewal.

Got to pay for the fancy automated system somehow :-).

I know what you mean though, plate change just cost me £34. :-(

Similar experience. Wife had a wee low speed knock with her car. As she is a named driver on my policy I got a letter explaining they have been notified of the accident and are charging me £35 to change my policy. I explained "well just take her off my policy then" which of course they charged me for anyway. Its all a big con, its a 2 second click and submit job.
