Call Connections

Just phoned up elephant there to get a confirmation of the quote I got online...
They told me £750 - 26yo - 8 NCB - 10k miles, garaged, no mods...
I told them it was too expensive so he passed me onto another call centre called Call Connections as they would be able to help me...
They are a call centre which transfers to other bloody call centres.

The agents must get pennies on how many transfers they get so they passed me through to a 'really competitive' Norwich Union and after an indian agent took all my details (and before he quoted me), the line went dead and all of a sudden this Call connections agent called me up again a couple of seconds later to say that they had swindon on hold...
They then quoted me 1100 quid and just before i had time to tell them to ram it, i was cut off again and surprise surprise the Call connections had another company - HAstings Direct!
went through the details again and just before i actually got a quote the line went dead...
BE WARNED WHEN SOMEONE MENTIONS CALL CONNECTIONS TO YOU....
Im now going to complain to the financial services agency

Wendy went through an insurance quote for something with 'Sheilas Wheels', that good old Aussie company. After spending 32 minutes going through detail after detail and repeating detail after detail so that the call centre gentleman in Calcutta could understand everything, and getting to the point where the quote would be given ........ the line went dead! Bang on 8pm.
Fortunately she had a reference number and immediately phoned back. Only to get a recorded message saying that the office was now closed since it was past 8pm.
When she complained to the company the next day they were able to listen to their own recordings and to be fair did grovel an apology. Quote was crap tho.

Ross, there is a regulatory requirement on the maximum length of premium rate calls, which mostly applies to 09 numbers, but if you were on a call to an 0871 number for a long time, then this could also take effect. Most call centres or telecoms operators build in maximum call time limits to their call routing software or switch network. This could be the reason you were cut off.
If you're not happy about them calling your, or the way the call was dealt with, complain to ICSTIS:

No, Autotorque (on of your recommendations from the sticky)

Ah right. You'll probably get that with a few of them. Probably Esteem/AON, CCI and Autotorque. Have you tried the other Admiral group companies? Admiral, Elephant and Bell are all the same group but one is always cheaper and it varies which one is best.

not tried bell yet...
Not sure if its just me being paranoid, but ever since that phone call last night with call connections, all of my quotes today have all been up at the £1200 mark...
Its a fecking conspiracy!

Right, tried A-Plan there - they are really good - however they opened a can of worms....
They told me that the Elephant quote I received did not take into account that I earned the NCB on my current practical car that I will still be using... I just assumed that the NCB was against me rather than a car!
I selected "I have a second car I wish to insure" on the elephant website, so I just assumed that they took this into account.
Do you think I should ask Elephant about this and risk an increase in my quote by about 300 quid?
