IMechE presentation - Strathclyde University 4th December

The Institute of Mechanical Engineers (NOT mechanics!) will be hosting an evening of presentations by students from Strathclyde University and Bell College.

The subjects of the presentations will be the Formula Student program and the Shell ECO Marathon.

Cars from each of the teams competing in these events will be on display.

It's free entry and based on previous presentations this should prove to be an interesting evening, at the very least..!

The venue is Strathclyde University's James Weir building in Montrose Street, Glasgow; 6.30pm for 7.00pm start. Everyone welcome.

Free coffee and biscuits will be provided!

It went well, as an exercise in learning how to present it was useful for the students. They're pitching to a potential sponsor on Friday, so at least they now have a bit of experience and know how to improve things.

The Strathclyde Uni' team were very slick, but they've got a few years on us!

One of the most significant things for our team was the realisation that they could do their car just as well, if not better than the Strathclyde one, which seems to have given our team fresh impetus. There's a friendly rivalry there. At least it's friendly at the moment...

If you want to re-live your Bell experience, there's going to be a brand new Suspension Set-up course starting next spring. There's a thread on it elsewhere in this forum (I think it's Annnouncements or Technical) if interested.

I told Gordon McIntyre about it when I was in Bell at the start of the year but not sure if he looked at it.

I came and had a look at the LMP several years ago when you were out in Carluke, If you have a good memory you may remember me, I had a 16v integrale?

Yeah - I've seen that car, and followed it's progress practically from scratch. It's a nicely engineered wee thing, bit over-complex, and ugly as sin!

My memory's crap! However, if you'd visited in an Integrale I would probably have remembered - was I around that day?

The Suspension Set-up course sounds interesting, pretty sure I'd be interested once you have dates and times sorted.

I have pages and pages of designs, ideas and concepts for my own car but have enough knowledge to know how hard it is to do and have not bothered to start modelling anything on the computer yet!

Yeah, I spoke to you when I came to see the LMP, you were looking for bmw bits and I told you about M-Tek Services in Rutherglen.

Designer, CAD Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer and some FEA, depends where I'm working;)

Currently contracting as an ME at Rolls Royce.

(GSA)? Glasgow School of Art?
