Mike

Hoping to drop in to see how it goes and some banter, also to say hello to Ricky, but will not be going on the R/R.

Might turn out to be the most expensive £45 a few of use spent, going by some of the shopping list I heard being bandy about. Welcome to my world :thumbsup

Thanks for organising Mike. :thumbsup
Likewise great to catch up with old and new faces.

My car made 231bhp at 7,250rpm (spec is 243). Subsequent runs didn't show any increase when revving up to 8.5K.
Repeated runs showed drops in power with no airflow to the intercooler.

This shows my plot for the 3 runs Ricky did. What surprised him is how little power it actually produces, bearing in mind he has driven the car on a few occasions. However the torque curve, if you can call it that is mighty, same power and torque figures more or less.

One thing is for sure, the only way is up and no wonder I couldn't catch that bloody Exige ........... :twisted:

Edit: the reason it's climbing every run was that the ECU and wide band lambda was in adaptive mapping mode. So the fueling was getting altered each run and producing more and more power. Was running lean on the top end.

That fan doesn't look the best for simulating the air flow round an Elise? I have seen much bigger fans at rolling roads I've used in the past :?

Funny you should say that, when we were there a new one arrived. You will definitely need to tie down a Elise when they fire it up. Bear in mind they only got the RR a couple of weeks ago.

Mike,

That picture showing a single torque&power curve is not right. Power always equals torque at 5250 RPM - your graph crosses at 6,200 or so. This might well be because the rolling road's road speed to engine RPM calibration wasn't set properly or some other setup issue.

Anyway, I suspect the power figure is "correct" and the torque curve can be redrawn as:

power = torque * RPM/5250

OR

torque = power * 5250/RPM.

That assumes that your rolling road was measuring power in the first place and reverse computing torque - some rolling roads measure torque, but I think these are only the hub clamping ones, not the floor rollers.

Cheers,
Robin

It's 'cos the torque is plotted on a 2nd Y-axis (on the right) at a different scale.
Roughly 130 bhp and torques at 5,250 revs. :thumbsup

Out of interest Robin why does power=torque at 5250rpm? is this for any engine and what if it doesn't rev to 5250rpm?. Just curious.
