I popped in to see Ricky today, never thought of asking about a group day. I've got myself booked in a week on wednesday, if all goes well with the install.

I would be up for it but actually require the car to be set up including verniers etc so will probably be better booking him for a morning etc. I am booked in with him this tuesday coming but only to sort out the mixture not for a power run.

Update on Ricky.

The R/R is being delivered tomorrow, and they are getting training on it from Mon-Wed next week.

Have you tried Robinson's tuners in Halfway? Assuming he's still on the go that is.

Dave

That is the sort of setup that Ricky is best at, so he would be ideal. However he is now full time with Coach House Garage, but he does still have his garage at home and may do the odd job.

I could have a word with him if you wished.

tut

ps Ricky did have his own website http://www.rickygauld.co.uk, it's still going but points to Coach House

David

Just spoke to Ricky and he asked if your carb set up is a Longman's conversion?

He is happy to set it up for you, so if you want to go ahead give him a ring on 01224 724474. It's possible that he could do it at home in his Garage or at Coach House which would be higher labour rates, but will leave that for the two of you.

tut almost spot on the money its a BIll Richards

the engine itself is MED but the carbs were converted at Bill's place.

The engine is a belter and has hardly turned in 4 years, all internals are really light weight and the head is a work of art, i went overboard and put in a stupid scatter cam that is so hard to time up its unbelevible.

If i am realistic it will be after christmas when i get the setup done but i am going to speak to ricky to see if he suggests dumping the dizzy for an ecu.

thanks for all the replies to this guys. help always appreciated. I wil update on what Ricky says.

Sounds a beaut David, so well worth getting running properly.

Ricky is one of the old school, used to build and race Davrian Imps, and has just built another Imp which he has already run a couple of times this year in the Scottish Sprint and Hillclimb Championships, and also a couple of rallies. He is coming up to 60 now, and looks as if he is getting his second wind.

Would think at that age he would put his feet up and retire gracefully.

Tut you know what i have heard of him before, i am sure i have. as soon as you mentioned he was around 60 it starting ringing bells.

I had a mate who once chatted to him a while back now and he had said at the time he was in to hill climbing and imps.

i am sure, from what i have heard a very nice bloke to deal with.

defo going to ring him. its someone old school that i am looking for if i am honest, these guys are always the best.

I am without a car at the moment as the exige is in for a front end swap, i was thinking of getting the mini out for next year and some track fun at knowckhill.

I will post some pics in the forum later this week of the mini so you can have a look at it, it was featured in both minimag and miniworld a couple of years back, it hasnt been out the garage since. litterally only done 100 miles in it since the bare shell build.

Get it out on the road and track.

Seems a shame to have a car like that tucked away and not used, especially a classic as the early Minis were.
