SE on your iPhone!

Post by Shug » Mon Jun 07, 2010 10:37 am

Yes, it's been requested for a while, but we've finally done it!

Ironside has successfully installed the Tapatalk mod to the back end of the forum, meaning you can now download the Tapatalk iPhone app (in the App store) which is avalable for £1.79 for the full version which allows you to post, or free for a Read-Only version. Start it up, search for Scottish Elises and put in your logins and you can post on the move!

Shug, have been posting and reading SE for the last 18 months on the iPhone, via a desktop shortcut, what's the advantage of this app?

Much clearer than zooming and mucking about on the wee screen, lists the forums and sub-forums in categories and strips out a lot of graphical guff that clutters things on the iPhone screen. If you want a look for free, just download the RO version and give it a quick punt. You don't have to try and aim at text shortcuts with a finger, or zoom in all the time.

Was installed as Sanjoy and a few others use it for other forums and it works well.

Will give it a go this week, trying the freebie version 1st !
Almost always view Scottish Elises through iphone and don't find it too bad most of the time but you do have to do a fair bit of scrolling up, down and sideways. Real pain for me and take ages is to type any post, preview it and sort mistyping so will see if it is any easier.

SE on your iPhone!

Bought the paid version and it does make viewing the forum much easier and quicker.
Less messing around than safari.
Very easy to navigate through all the various section or just view new posts.
8 out of 10, worth the £1.79 IMO.

Edit: this was posted using it on my iPhone.

One thing though, unless I'm missing something but you can't access smilies from the app. Guess you can't have everything.

Edit: this wasn't

I prefer browsing the forum through safari rather than the tapatalk thing.

Other forums can be quite awkward to use on the iPhone but I always found SE to be easy to navigate.

I like it but it doesnt recognise that you have viewed the posts you are subscribed to, so still have to go into safari to view it if you still want notification that someone has added a post. Is that down to a glitch with tapatalk or SE?

There's a button on top right of your screen (arrow) and when you press it, it comes up with refresh, reply or cancel. :thumbsup
