Croft Sept 2nd

Tim S and myself are heading down to Croft on Sept 2nd for a track day organised by Lotus on Track- would be great if a few more SEers could join us. Stuff you need to know:

Circuit - If you haven't been there before, Croft is an absolutely fantastic circuit whch I much prefer to Knockhill. It is over 2 miles long, and has some great fast corners which flow into each other, including Barcroft which is taken at around 100mph  (more if you are braver than me!) - all in a nice leafy rural setting and less than 3hrs drive from Edinburgh.

Cost - is £125, cheaper than a normal full day organised by the circuit themeselves. LOT operates as a club which you have to join, but they will do you a discount if you are from Scotland as most of the days they organise are down south. Booking info here http://www.lotus-on-track.com

Noise Limit - is 98Db static. Not as bad as it sounds. My Larini is bloody loud at full chat on drive by, but was only measured at 96 static at Croft earlier this year. If you have got a stage 2, bosh your standard zaust back on. It will be well worth it.

Format - like all Croft days it is not open pit lane, but divided into 3 groups with a 20 minute session each per hour. Don't let this put you off - I found the format works really well - think Jamie will concur. There is never any crouding on track, and the circuit is so fast and demanding 20 minutes per hour was enough for me. 20 minutes drive, 20 minutes pax, 20 minutes chill before the next drive seemed to good mix.

The plan for the weekend will probably be to head down Fri evening and have a few beers. There are plenty of nice villages and B+Bs to stay in nearby.

I'd love to do croft, but i'm really put off with sessions. Only ever been to one sessioned trackday at rockingham, and i really felt shortchanged. I wanted much more tracktime than i actually got.

hmmm, need to have a think if croft only ever run sessions.

Not only sessions, they do open pit lane as well, in fact, I've done only open pit lane there.

Feel the same way here about sessions, yu get very little tracktime, and I am just warming up to go quickly when the session is over. :(

Think all the days organised by Croft themeselves are sessioned. I was very sceptical about the sessions thing too, but both days at Croft I have done I though it worked surprisingly well. Still get well over 2 hours solid on track over the day, which may not be enough for you hardcore nutter track dudes, but is probably enough for most people. And the circuit is just sooo much more exciting to drive than KH :D

but 2 hours tracktime in a whole day is dire. i reckon i get probably 1 and a half hours on a 2 hour tracknight at knockhill. I agree that croft looks to be a much faster, more exciting circuit, but i would just want more tracktime.

P.S Uldis, fuel pump has been replaced and car is going quick again so we'll need to get back on track for a fairer rematch

Got a wedding that day :(

Got to say though - the sessions work really well
Have only done sessioned days at Croft and loved everyone of them.

Quite understand some folks not liking the idea of sessions, and totally agree open pit lane would be preferable. All I can say is that from a personal point of view I have done loads of open pit track days at KH in the last few years, but I probably enjoyed the 2 sessioned days I had at Croft just as much if not more than any of them, simply because the circuit is so good.

Can't do Croft Sept 2nd - good excuse - my first visit to Goodwood Revival that weekend :D

Intend to try Lotus-on-Track Aug 6th instead as never been to Croft - if it's good I'll be up for repeats in future.

Just though I would give this thread a bump to remind people.

C'mon guys - it will be a great day out! KH is a kart track in comparison :D

Yup Croft is great... but £125 for a sessioned day puts me off.

I would like to try croft, the seesions do put me off, but I would try it just to see how it went, but I can't make 2nd Sept for the same reason as Brian J.

I'm with shug and mckeann on this. I've never done sessions but for £80 i'll get more than 2 hours of track time at KH on the next SIDC day and without the hassle of driving for hours or having to stay overnight. If I do a trip to another track, I'd want it to be open pit lane.
