Glasgow University Motor-Sport Club's first scatter rally of 2008-09 is being held on the evening of Tuesday the 4th of November. Following on from last year's Smokey and The Bandit scatter, this one is based around Smokey and the Bandit II
Scatter rallies are a great form of amateur motorsport and very easy to compete in - any road legal car can take part. Regs and entry forms are attached.
Since it's the first rally of this year, the tuesday before, we'll be running a navigation training session during the usual meeting in the beer bar. If you've never navigated before (or if you have but want a reminder) then this is defintiely worth coming to so you know what to expect. Even if you can't compete in the Smokey and the Bandit II but are interested in competing in road rallies in the future it's still worth coming along.
Here's the blurb for the rally:
Glasgow University Motor-Sport Club is holding its second Smokey and the Bandit scatter - based on Smokey and the Bandit II - on the evening of Tuesday the 4th of November 2008. Dust off your copies of OS Landranger sheet 64: Glasgow, Motherwell & Airdie; and prepare for a great evening on the best roads just to the north of Glasgow.
The event will start at Luddon on Balmore Road (582 713) and finish at The Tickled Trout Inn on Boclair Road (573 727). Scrutineering will start at 18.30 (Due to start venue limitations - please don't arrive before this time!) and competitors must be signed on by 19.15. A driver's briefing will take place at 19.15 and navigation clues will be issued to all crews at 19.30.
Entry is £10 per team. This is only to cover permits and prizes.
If you want to compete but don't have a complete team just let me know whether you want to drive or navigate and I'll try to find you a driver/navigator.
Regs and entry forms are attached and paper copies are availible from me.
The usual GUMSC quirks apply - there will be bonus points for dressing up and decorating your cars in line with the film.
Any questions don't hesitate to email me
