Re: Caterham Academy 2010
Hi all, thanks for the support. Really can't wait to get started and to work on taking my driving to the next level. Should be an amazing year.
If anyone else fancies it I think there may still be spaces!

Re: Caterham Academy 2010
Congrats on taking the plunge - You'll have a blast!
I did the Scottish Caterham Academy back in 2004 - Only ran for one year, and was very poorly supported unfortunately...We were lumped in with Roadsport A's / MINI Coopers, which made the racing 'interesting', as we were lapping the MINI's while they were dicing for position / getting lapped by the RSA's driving in a similar fashion...
I didn't 'get' driving a Caterham till late on in the season - They're very easy to hoon around the track in, but quite difficult to extract the last few tenths from...
You will notice your lap times dropping markedly from the start of the season - We raced 4 or 5 times at Knockhill, and I was over 4 seconds a lap faster at the end of the season...
I realise it's sold as a 'level playing field of novices', but go in with your eyes open...Lots of karters, who might not have held a race license, but are blindingly quick, enter...The fun is in trying to keep up with them...
Not sure I've any applicable advice, but happy to have my brain picked if you like - I had the most fun racing in the Super Graduates series towards the end of the season, with proper grids, but the 'English' Academy has a decent entry, so you won't have the same problem as me...
Cheers,
Ross

Indeed they are...Shod with the CR500's you salvaged from a skip...thinfourth wrote: Are those my wheels?

That pic was taken during one of the Graduates races at KH... iirc skip tyres helped towards a top ten finish from a starting grid of 20 ish...

The tyres that the academy races on are complete and utter tupperwear so in your tyre budget put a big fat zero as they are indestructable
Can I have them at the end of the season as they will be fine for autotesting type abuse

Re: Caterham Academy 2010
I'd love to see some of the TD regulars out on CR322's instead of R tyres...Certainly would be a challenge to see who could make best use of the zero grip available...
(I actually think CR322's are made of plastic as opposed to rubber....

I have two rims with (well worn) avon tyres on, and two spare avon tyres for a 7 in my garage (courtesy of Mr Thinf) for autotesting.
