Right then, what spares would be worth carrying?

If your not competing this year I would hang off buying tyres at present.
There's a bit of a fuss about running R tyres in the road classes.......I don't know the in's and out's - hopefully Fd will come along and give a bit more info.

I'm not sure Bob, I know that they are listed in the back end of the blue book.
I don't really know the in's and out's of it all - I know that the 7 type guys all go for ACB10's and most of the other non race cars use a mix of A048's/ACB10/Khumo

where can i get a look of a blue book ?
ps i think the acb10 are a crossply requiring a differant geo so not a straight fit and no elise sizes either

Re: Ok then, what do I NEED to do to the car, and me
It would be ridiculous even for the MSA to ban R tyres, as they are a perfectly legal road tyre.

And? I agree, it'd be daft, but it's not about road legality, but cost for competitors so that argument wouldn't wash with them.tut wrote:It would be ridiculous even for the MSA to ban R tyres, as they are a perfectly legal road tyre.

MSA will do whatever the hell they like, as per usual.

Re: Ok then, what do I NEED to do to the car, and me
It's not an MSA ban on R tyres - it's a class issue.
I run in the road car section which up till now can run R tyres - I can still run them but would need to change to a modified class or I can run "road" spec tyres and stay in the same class.
The english run their hillclimbs to the MSA blue book at the moment we run differently but there's a move to fall in line with the MSA & English scene.

Re: Ok then, what do I NEED to do to the car, and me
There will be no cahnge to the tyres you can use next year in Scotland it is going to remain as is. This means you can run either list 1A or 1B tyres.
John,
these are the tyres I was talking about
http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php? ... b102s699p0
These are the only tyres available in 185 section and in 3 different compounds. They come as the usual 225 rears but neither Toyo or Yokahama produce a 185 front so you have to fit a 195 section to a 5.5" instead of a 6" rim.
And the soft ones are Very sticky and heat up quickly, I will be running a set of these next year soft on the front and medium rears.

Mike,
Has that been agreed for next year - or can we still expect some clubs to play silly buggers?

Re: Ok then, what do I NEED to do to the car, and me
As far as I have been led to believe that is what they are doing for next year, not sure if it is cast in stone yet but nobody wants to change the tyre rules from what they are now. At the end of the day everybody that I have come across in class A8 is running 1B tyres, so the money saving arguement goes right out the window as we would all have to run out and by new tyres!!. Weather some clubs will still play silly buggers I don't know. I heard that one event was beset with red tape but haven't expeirenced any of that myself.
