Distracted with other unexpected things lately. but wheels and steering all together, still debating chassis. half tempted to go for 25x50mm steel section an bolt it together using plywood brackets. still in theory mode! but will blitz it in a day. honest...

I had great ideas about using scrap wood etc but not had time to hunt down. Fighting it but may just buy some timber, don't need much.
Re: Soapbox tech
What's the bolt / thread / nut size of "regular" bike axles? I need to order a variety pack from Screwfix.
Ta!

The bmx wheels I got have a very fine thread on them. Applying a thread gauge to work it out is on the list.
Check this out it has a table at the bottom.

We have rear wheels mounted to uprights and chassis rails now
Next stop front axle.
As for brakes. Acht, who needs em.

Re: Soapbox tech
Today there was progress!
First pass at the chassis constructed but not fastened anything permenantly yet. Going to solidify up the rear. Like the sound of rear uprights Campbell! My bmx forks approach has created some issues.

I've stalled a bit. Need to make some time - again!!

Re: Soapbox tech
Just received our final "competitors pack". This jolted me to check our accom booking. We have a tent pitch booked at the Aboyne Loch Camp Site, £22 for the night of Sat 20th, so if anyone else is travelling from further afield (Ferg!), just thought I'd mention.
Rumours of final shakedown testing by tearing around the campsite are totally correct

Re: Soapbox tech
I have built to the minimum track width spec of the Scottish Cartie association. Problem is that this puts me 5cm over the maximum width of the cart in the rules just sent.
I'm also not impressed with the inclusion of a 350mm jump!! The original site say (kerb height). Most of us are entering kids as drivers for the thrill of the race. I feel this is an attempt to turn it into a crash and bash like the Red Bull events. Hopefully our carts, and kids will all survive.
