As an update to this, the TSE website was maintained by the late Lawrence Hoy. We're attempting to get the details to update and maintain the site from the developer (Cameron at Escrivo - an ex-SE'er himself), to keep the site going. Hopefully, we'll get that info in the next few days. After that, it'll continue to be the repository for race reports and information from the TSE competitors. Mac has offered his time to manage a chunk of this and all the SE mods will have access to update the site too.

Worth pointing out the vast majority of TSE competitors had incredible help and encouragement from Lawrence to varying degrees (up to and including the complete build of a car) I think it's one of his great legacies in SE and we owe it to his memory to keep that enthusiasm and excitement about competition alive.

is there no way to incorporate it in to the SE site, as an TSE section, or sub forum?

Not currently - the forum software is a different setup to the blog that the TSE site uses. The TSE site also has some more sophisticated features to let people post directly from mobile phones at events etc, so I think it should stay. Nothing to stop people also posting race reports in this forum, but the TSE site is a better repository for it in the longer term.

Indeed - it's my intention to cherry pick the reports from here and Jock 7 and insert them into the TSE.

I should also be able to update driver profiles etc.

Should it transpire that TSE is no longer supported a few of us will get our heads to together with Simon Ironside to see what can be done.

Good stuff :) I have to confess that I never knew what the story was with TSE, who was in it, or how you became a part of it. New sub-forum put to good use :thumbsup

does anyone have the graphic for the TSE badges?

I have a label/signage printer and would be happy to run off one or 2?

Rolfe's car needs one simply as he qualifies on Engine destruction fronts

Also - could we add the LOTRDC race reports from myself and McApe from last year to it?

Would love to have them kept somewhere.

I still enjoy reading the RLC thread from time to time - I can tell from my writing how excited i was :damnfunny

Totally agree Shug. I found this which is pre TSE. I went to watch Lawrence in 2003 at the Fintray Hillclimb on the Saturday, and he persuaded me to have a go on the Sunday. I had no licence, Club membership, racing suit, crash hat or anything, but he arranged it with the Organisors for me to download the MSA licence form from the net, bring it in with a cheque, join GAC at the same time, use my Bristow flying suit which was Nomex3, borrow a helmet and timing strip, then talk me through and walk me up the Hill.

He posted this up on S_E1, and even though he won his Class, there is no mention of himself, he was just excited by how I had got on.

That was the kind of friend he was.

what a brilliant write up from Lawrence. It just so him.

The amount the helped people and he always seemed to get so much pleasure from watching people learn and experience a sport which had given him so much.

I remember him coming down (with some more Se'ers) for my first LOTRDC race at Oulton. His calm, rational chat helped me loads, and it meant so much to both me and the Ape to have him down with the others.

To talk about his own experiences always took a bit of coaxing.

The support he gave to people wanting to do any form of motorsport was incredible, up to buying sheds for any se'er that wanted to try autotesting.

I also recall at my first autotest, Lawrence giving me TSE stickers to badge up my 111r. I was so touched, and he then gave me a TSE baseball cap. In typical LH style wouldn't let me give him anything for them either.

I think I/we definately owe it to him to keep his example going where ever we can :thumbsup :cheers
