Just spent 1.20 on the phone with Mike this afternoon, but he did not have the dates at that time.

Last year was best 9 out of 16 for the Sprints, but this year I see that there are 15 rounds and East Fortune has been dropped, plus KH again.

Still dick 'em if they would let me.........

Mike or Ali

Do you know if the 2-11 would be eligible for A8 Class?

If so it could probably win the outright Scottish Sprint Championship.

Don't see why not...as long as it's a Lotus 'full production model'.
Also be allowed to massively modify it terms of power, brakes, suspension etc. as long as it was road legal (and you didn't put a Honda in it).

Yeah - after all, it's legal to bolt a bloody supercharger on a VHPD with no equivalency rule, as long as the block is the same as production

Not entirely sure I agree with that TBH

I think there is a multiplier for turbo or S/C...

...but the class is unlimited engine capacity...

It's the first time I've been given a bollocking for being on the phone so long from somebody elses wife  I wouldn't mind but I was paying for the call :?

As for the 2-11 no it isn't. I checked before blowing a load of money on something I couldn't use. Not enough units made................yet.

Good lad Paul, lent me a racing suit for most of the season.

Started off using my Nomex 3 Flying suit, £500's worth, but as they could not force me to wear shoes, they banned that instead.

Yes Mike, I see the Scottish regs say '...full production models...' and MSA defines that as '...produced in quantities of not less than 1000 per annum...'.
I don't know how many 2-11's are produced a year. :?:

Seems a bit harsh but a standard 2-11 would wipe the floor with pretty much anything. I think the class was designed to encourage standard Porsche, Ferrari, Lotus, TVR etc. In the past it's been been a mix of some fairly standard road cars (like myself) and classic racers (Matt Gordon, Stan Bernard with the Porsches etc.) and the odd Ginetta, VX220, TVR. As it stands I think an early Elise or Exige (340R wouldn't be eligible as not produced in enough numbers) with K series engine, maybe bigger capacity, with a turbo and/or supercharger is going to be the otimum...as Graeme Bremner has proved with his Exige.

I'm sure a few other notable past and present entries can't have been produced in those numbers though...

Your probably right. Think the ginetta runs in A8 because there is usually on one or two of them. In the lowlands championship they run in a class of their own up here there A8 because they don't really fit anywhere else. A8 has kinda turned into a catch all class for stuff that would get thumped in any other class, road car wise.
Graeme did happen to have the right car at the right time, but all power to him he's Scottish champ again and Jeniffer got the womens so it's worked out OK for them.
I would expect to see more Elise/Exige variants as the price of them comes down, then they will either change the class and do away with A8 or bung them in a class structure of there own, like some of the English hillclimbs/sprints have done.

BTW tut, worked out that I am home for 14 events next year, 10 of which are sprints. Looks like '09 is going to be a busy year :thumbsup
