Hotel a wee bit North of Birmingham is the way to go. :thumbsup
Much cheaper, more availability and we don't need a bar...

...carry out in the back of the Voyager on the way down. :D ;)

I finish 'school' at 1.30 too (and have Noggies and Aussies visiting so doubtful I'll get away early) so I'm afraid we'll be a fair bit later getting to you.
Probably nearer 4pm...

Got the tickets for Scotty and I booked OK on the phone (with BOGOF discount). £32 for the pair. :thumbsup

06 January 2009

Lotus fans visiting the Autosport show, 8th to 11th January at the Birmingham NEC are going to be spoilt for choice.

Club Lotus and Classic Team Lotus are putting together what is likely to be the 'must see' stand at the show with a selection of some of the rarest Lotus race cars in existence. They include the Lotus Type 32B Tasman which was raced by Jim Clark and the Lotus 97T that Ayrton Senna won his first GP in. Also on the stand are the Type 49 which Graham Hill took to victory in the 1968 & 69 Monaco Grand Prix. As if that wasn't enough Emerson Fittapaldi's Type 72 will also be on display and is joined by a 211 in the same JPS livery.

Lotus are also exhibiting and will have a limited edition Ronnie Peterson Exige, an entry level 2-Eleven
and the Tri-fuel 270 Exige on the stand. In addition there will be a GT4 Supersport 2-Eleven on the NGK stand. It's also rumored that a 2-Eleven and the Black Diamond Europa SE will be taking part in the driving parade.

Yokohama have a White Exige 260 Cup as their stands center piece, which should help with promotion for Lotus Cup Europe and the Elise Trophy.

LoTRDC will have a last minute stand with Martin Donnelly's 211 race car and possibly one Production Class S1 as well. They will also have video footage of the 2008 season on display and free 2009 season postcards for both the Elise Trophy and Lotus Cup Europe.

In addition there will be Lotus cars scattered around other areas of the show such as in the track day display and an Elise Trophy race car on the Hot-Lap.com stand.

Lotus parts suppliers and Elise Trophy sponsors will also be represented with Competition Car Insurance, HoT-Lap.com, Nitron Shocks, Reverie all attending and looking forward to welcoming Lotus owners.

Relevant Lotus related stands:

Club Lotus & Classic Team Lotus - 6240

Competition Car Insurance - 7560

Hot-Lap.com - TBC

LoTRDC & Elise Trophy - 2805 (yes it is a motorhome stand!)

Lotus Cars - 18450

Motors TV - 2100

NGK - 2950

Nitron Shocks - E1224

Reverie - 8610

Torque Developments International - 18360

Rooms booked, they went up to £55 each room per night.

Really looking forward to it, got lots to see and people to talk to. I was on the phone to Walshy last night, his new RST powered (500BHP+) Exige GT3 will be on display.

Ali has done something (maybe broken) to his thumb playing basketball last night. So looks like Myself from ABZ then Stu & Steven from EDH.

Anyone want Ali's ticket?

I don't think I'd swap tut although it's a bit nippy. :D

 *** WARNING ***
not for the squemish

Caught a ball on the end of my right thumb, pushed it back 90 deg at the first knuckle splitting the tissue across the front. I spent all last night in A&E (after showering, applying a dressing, driving the Exige home and getting Nicola to drive me in the Mini), eventually got it checked out between all the skanks and beer injuries but Nicola suffered with the blood/discussing the injury with the doctor. She went into a full faint and spent an hour with her feet up sookin oxygen. In the end I drove her home with one hand! :damnfunny

Back to the specialist today for explotatory surgery, just make sure the ligaments etc are OK, but priorities in theatre meant I was bumped all day and sent home after 10hrs. Back again at 8am tomorrow...
