"Do I need a catalytic converter?
The MSA requirement is that production-based cars manufactured from 1 January 2000 require a catalytic converter."
Looks like the decat pipe will be going back on as my car is pre 2000.
Looking forward to spitting flames out the back on the downshift..

If your running in a road class then you will need a CAT - this hasn't changed since last year.

Vic, for the road car class you need an MOT. To get an MOT you need a cat so you can't really remove it. Shame really i know as I have a cat replacement pipe sitting doing nowt as well.

Need to look at that closely as my car is one of the 50 SVA type approved 135's so I think it fits in with the kit car emisions regulations... maybe.. sure there is something in the road regs that lets me away without one..Mikie711 wrote:Vic, for the road car class you need an MOT. I would be suprised if that was the case - My caterham is pre SVA and only just gets away with not having a CAT for MOT purposes - another 6 months and it would be an SVA car and would require a CAT.
My 2pence - the loss or gain you'll get with not running a CAT really isn't worth it - this season I ran legally without a CAT, FD had to run with - he set new PB's all season - I didn't.

Was looking at one of the free flow cats, probably not worth it in terns of power gain.. if and when my cat fails as I expect it will, if you believe what the other competitors have said when discussing the pro's and con's around cats.
