That is a real deal then! The PED is lighter and stronger than the GP-5K (and nearly double the price), they are old model now but I'd guess what you have would have retailed for closer to £1500... :thumbsup

Have you seen the thickness of the visors though!

We'll have to compare helmets (fnnarr), mine has the HANS posts fitted if you need a nosey...
All characters appearing in this post are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.
Any references to laptimes, speed or driving on the public highway are purely for dramatic effect.

Yeh, the visors are probably bullet proof  they are a full 3mm thick and the anti-fog has better seals on it than the Exige door seals!!!. I can return the helmet to the UK distributors and have hans post fitted if I need them later, costs about £190 but at least I won't have to get a new one again ....... hopefully.
A new GP-5 from Arai is £936.16+vat  but you can get them quite a bit cheaper now the GP-6 is out.

Im fed up of hiring smelly helmets that dont fit right when I go to trackdays, so I want to get my own one. How do I know what ones meet the new regulations? What should I be looking out for? Iv seen a few which are ECE 22.05 and ACU Gold safety standard. Is that the new safety standard? Iv been trying to read up on it but its not really that clear.....so Im hoping my fellow SE'ers will help me!

:cheers

Those are both bike standards not car motorsport standards as previously discussed. Since your going to be doing only track days either of those are suitable and are the same standard as most of the guys who are not competing will be wearing.

Main thing to consider is fit and after that it's either style or cost :D :D

I'll top those helmets Ali/Mike.

Here is my Arashi Mono Daytona (Yes, the cheap one  )

Key features, Visor comes off when you brake hard, applies constant pressure to your temple and weighs a solid 40 kg.

Nice. :D

I've got an Arai head too. But I could only afford a GP-5K :(

I did get a free bag though and it cost £480 two years ago at Autosport so not too bad.

I really fancy a GP-6 now but since I can't even afford decent tyres........
