Clearly you've never driven an Atom - dramatic yes, but not quick in terms of laptimes

I think a load of things have been improved on the handling side of the V8 Atom.

I would hope so too. I had a go in a mate's series 1 Atom at Rockingham back in 2001 and it handled like donkey poo. Plus we needed to stop every 5 mins to either fill it with fuel (the fuel tank had no baffles and the pickup was in some crazy place that meant every time you turned left the engine was starved) or pick up some bit that had fallen off.

I'm sure they've improved a bit since then :D

I think any production car would have trouble beating the Mutch/Jolly Dax at the minute. Another class record of 82.09 at Kames on Saturday (no sandbagging there!).......

We all have toys! I seem to remember it was an old man that ended up winning at Alford last year? Unfortunetly I was away that weekend picking up the Exige from Edinburgh.

The Dax has had no engine developments at all over the winter.......it doesn't need to! There isn't much going to come near it this year apart from Trevor in his 'newly modified' R500. The 2 cars that used to beat the Dax are either retired or in Donalds case, moved into modified. (Just wait to see what Donald has been doing to the Evo over winter!)

I didn't have toys - my speed was directly linked to talent!

(which explains why I was so far behind Fd & Iain)

Yes - my speed is directly related to talent too.

Although, I have got a fine collection of power rangers. Do they help?

He didn't apply

craignicol wrote:Said Lotus 7 has a few secrets underneath its skin however.....its actually a Caterham chassis. Or its the only Lotus 7 to ever have a De Dion Rear beam.
No, not the only one - the very first Lotus 7 built in 1957 in Chapman's home had a De Dion back end.

I bought mine (which started life in 1968 as a crossflow SIII) from Simon, a dentist in Surrey, who was the second owner and had it for over 20 years. It was purchased from Caterham Cars when they were Lotus agents . Simon had James Whiting look after it most of its life and he fitted a twincam then the BDA. Simon used it on the road most of the time and inevitably the chassis rotted. The choice was to have Arch restore the original or fit a repalcement. Simon wanted a De Dion so a replacement it was......

So Lotus or Caterham? I never went fast enough for it to matter and never, ever took it South of Stonehaven so nobody really cared. I gather my successor had a bit of bother though :D

There's also no truth in the rumour that I've painted the Prosport green and yellow and put a Lotus badge on it in an attempt to join the A8 boys

Cheers

JP
