Does anyone know if spectators are permitted or not to the championship sprint at Ingliston next weekend ?

Cheers

Stevie,
There was no spectating allowed last year - only the 'crew' of competitors allowed in to the venue. I'm pretty sure it will be the same this year but I haven't received my final instructions yet so I don't know what the arrangements are.

Just got the regs for this and the only mention of spectators is "In the interests of safety the riding of scooters, bicycles or
motorcycles within the paddock, spectator or assembly areas is strictly prohibited." which to me implies there is a spectator area, unless of course this is copied from a standard instruction/reg sheet and they all say that?.

Big congrats to Ben for smashing the class record at Ingliston in his beautiful blue VX. Two class wins and class records in his first outing. Brilliant stuff.

Thanks Kev, really appreciated all the tips you gave me, especially about tyre pressures and getting a banker time in on the first run.
I really enjoyed the weekend, must say I felt very welcome in the paddock, the road going guys are a really great bunch of lads and Dave in the MR2 went out of his way to talk me through how the day works and make sure I was in the right place for every run.

The sprint itself was way more exciting than a track day even though you only get about 5 minutes of running it's quality rather than quantity and the buzz I got from beating a previous time was epic.

All I can say is if you've not tried one, give it a go!

I went along on the Sunday, signed on as media (arranged access in advance). The only area that drivers and their assistants were watching from was the start line, where you could see the cars for all of 3 or 4 seconds. There's no armco around any of the track any more, so no safe places for spectators to stand.

My photos from the event are here: http://www.flatoutphotography.com/gallery3/ING2011/

Well done Ben - if you continue like that you'll be well on the way to winning the class and Newcomer's in the Lowland Championship!
